Still feel like we desperately need an explosive guard who can collapse the defense. Not expecting to get that in the second round but it would be nice to have that on the team.

Those two, Fleming and Thiero should be top 4 on our board.

I know Jerry Lucas has apparently identified some key metrics that clearly seem to be a strong part of our player valuations and Adou was the guy that met this criteria AND I actually really love his hustle, athleticism etc...he almost reminds me of a poorman's Mathurin. But man we really do need to add some shooting with one of our bigs in particular.

Due to Fleming's crazy wingspan that can still work and could actually be hella interesting to truly test the "Vision 6'7-9'" theory lol so I'd love to have him too but I would think kinda preferably it be one of Raynaud or Kalkbrenner just for the added rim protection/rebounding. But I just feel like there's some diminishing returns of the defensive "upside" if we can't shoot/score the damn ball lol ie/ like last year's HOU team.

Said it earlier but unless we have a shooting coach comparable to OKC's, we'll project to be far more like last year's HOU team than another potential OKC and that one simulatenously small but huge difference is what separates true championship contender from a tough out in the 1st rd lol. I don't think our current staff has done a great job at improving our team's overall shooting ability so I hope we just draft a bigger one here.

It's gonna be someone that no one expected. Don't remember a single time when Masai took a "consensus" guy in the late first, or second.

Koloko was close. So was Mogbo. I think Masai is starting to assign value to 2nd round picks... not just letting the guy in the back row of the war room take a suprise turn at the com.

FWIW, The Ringer comps Maluach to Koloko and Javale.

Raps 1st rounders tend to be more IBM Watson based picks and they lean heavily on vibes in the 2nd round. Guys like Banton and Shead aren't exactly going to pass an analytical test.

I don't think it's a need, we didn't even have that in our championship year. More shooting would help more imo. Denver didn't really have that when they won, Boston don't even play that way and even OKC doesn't really have a guy like that. In this league shooting and tough D are more important.

Can someone explain to me how Zion/Queen is going to work exactly?

and then explain how Poole/Fears will work.

and then explain why they needed to give up 2 potential lottery picks next year to achieve this.

and then explain how Joe Dumars has a job again.

Plus CMB will be adding more paint touches and kick outs so I really don’t think that should be a priority. It’s painfully obvious we need more shooting especially from a big to open up the paint for Scottie & CMB.

WuTang_OG wrote:Thiero we wouldnt pass on

39. Toronto Raptors (via Portland)
Alijah Martin | 6-2 guard | 23 years old | Florida
Martin is a monster on the court, an athletic freak who plays with serious power and explosiveness while also letting his motor run at 100 percent all the time. He’s one of the best perimeter defenders in the class and is tough and physical at the point of attack while also providing a weakside rim-protection presence. Offensively, Martin is a bit small for someone who isn’t a lead guard, but he’s hit 36 percent of his 3s over his college career, and teams are interested in him as a defensive stopper.

40. New Orleans Pelicans (via Phoenix)
Adou Thiero | 6-6 wing | 21 years old | Arkansas
I don’t know what the Pelicans are doing, but if the Troy Weaver experience has taught us one thing, it’s that shooting is optional. Thiero is a monster athlete and a tremendous defender who creates serious force on the rim in transition. But he’s a non-shooter, and teams are worried about him being able to consistently provide value on offense. Thiero is in my top-five remaining players, though, so I would approve of this.

41. Golden State Warriors (via Miami)
Koby Brea | 6-6 wing | 23 years old | Kentucky
Brea is this class’ best shooter off the catch, having drilled 45 percent of his nearly six 3-point attempts per game over the last two years. He is a historically relevant shooter. Having said that, Brea is also not quite at the level of most other NBA skills at this point. He’ll need to work on his defensive ability to stick in the NBA.

We wouldn't pass on Thiero if he's there.

Unfortunate that Memphis took Yang. I can't believe he rose that much.

However I understand where you're coming from, it can open up an offense to have a guy like that but there are different ways to put rim pressure other than explosion ala Ant Man. More shooting opens up the lanes, power and strength to muscle your way up (CMB and Scottie have that in spades) or craftiness like BI has. I think we'll be ok with what we have at Guard but we need more shooting for that.

I thought blowing all your available cap space on Ben Gordon and Charlie V as a fireable offence and possibly accompanied with a lifetime ban.
