We own 7 1st round draft picks over the next 4 drafts, and on our books right now we have like $40M in expiring salary we could offer if we wanted. We have a ton of options.

This!

People act like we haven't been trading for picks this entire time is crazy. If we want to go big name hunting we have the assets to get something done.

The question is do we have the roster to be making that kind of significant move. Not sure when we keep screwing up these draft picks. Salaun looks like a wasted pick atm. I feel a little better about Kon, but I view him as a role player nothing more nothing less.

If it were me I would probably go after Jaylen Brown. He fits what we need and brings championship experience.

Could we get something done with Bridges/Nurk/picks?

Hell yeah, get us some Jarrett Allen! Trade Machine says Josh Green, NSJ and Moore Jr make the salaries work. Add draft picks till both say yes.

This is the same team that had four first round picks - 11, 13, 15, 19 in 2021 and 2022 and none of those are on the team, I don't really trust this team to use first round picks or even trade them for that matter. Historically as a franchise we have let assets aspire or held on to them too long until they turn to dust (like quite literally the DUST chip...remember how we were going to package that with picks for Carmelo Anthony??)

Cleveland a team that is trying to win a title right now isn't taking a bunch of trash for a starting player.

in summer 2010..
That was the rumor at the time... try to pair Chris Paul and carmelo.. instead Melo went to NYC with amare and the dust chip was waived.

Wow that would have been crazy!

Both Jordan Brand athletes at that time as well. If MJ would have pulled that off sheesh!

I’m just brainstorming here but I wonder if Utah would have any interest in moving off Walker Kessler

I could say a third team (Brooklyn with Cam Johnson?) taking on the picks and bad salary while maybe routing Cam and Bridges to CLE in this example

Check out this trade of players. With Lonzo being traded to Cleveland, Cavs take a big gamble on a big shake up:

Melo, Miles, Nurkic out, Mobley, Allen, Strauss in. Picks traded as needed to succeed.

Works in trade machine. Cavs would likely never do it regardless of the picks we throw in.

lmao

We could throw in 7 years of picks and the Cavs aren't doing this, they are fully committed to Mobley.

Wouldn't hate working something out for Allen, but again, I just can't see the Cavs blowing things up for picks with the rest of the East is so bad

For reference these are the only teams that are even remotely threats to be competent next season
Cleveland
Indy - Tyrese torn Achilles
Boston - Tatum torn Achilles
Milwaukee - Lillard torn Achilles and they have zero trade flexibility
Orlando - perpetually injured
Philly - perpetually injured
Knicks
Detroit
Atlanta
Heat - simply because they are the Heat, they'll be in the play-in despite being pretty lacking in talent

I see no real reason (aside from their own health which can't be predicted) Cleveland shouldn't come out of the East.

I kind of find it hard to believe we'd be interested in Allen. He doesn't shoot 3's.

Nurk gone. I liked him. We needed his vet presence

#Hornets are acquiring Colin Sexton and a second-round pick from the Utah Jazz for Jusuf Nurkic, league sources confirm to
@theobserver

The Jazz and Hornets have agreed to a trade that will send guard Collin Sexton and a 2030 second-round pick to Charlotte, with center Jusuf Nurkic headed to Utah, according to Shams Charania of ESPN (Twitter link).

Sexton, 26, spent four years in Cleveland before being signed-and-traded to Utah in 2022’s Donovan Mitchell deal. He has played for the Jazz for the past three seasons, averaging 18.4 points, 4.2 assists, and 2.7 rebounds in 27.9 minutes per game in 63 contests (61 starts) in 2024/25.

The Hornets had reportedly been on the lookout for a veteran guard to back up point guard LaMelo Ball. While Sexton is more of a combo guard than a traditional point guard, he can handle the ball and is a pretty efficient scorer — he posted a shooting line of .480/.406/.865 this past season.
