I think it's important to keep into perspective that we'd be drafting Kalkbrenner in the second round.

Yes, he'd be limited to drop coverage schemes but that's ok. He's a big physical body with tree trunk legs who will not get bullied down low (one of the things the frustrated me with Mark). Worst case scenario, he's a functional backup big. It's possible he could develop into a poetl type 5 though.

Reynaud isn't nearly as strong as Kalkbrenner but is more gifted offensively and can operate from the post and on the perimeter. He's less of a liability on switches but will still have some limitations.

Dream scenario would be to land Fleming and then pair one of these guys with him. I think Fleming is gone though so I'd take either of Maxime/Kalkbrenner if only one is left. If both are still there, I'd take both and not look back.

Worst case scenario is he is a 2nd round player and 40 games into the year we realize he is a bust. Nnaji was 31st pick, Koloko was 33rd pick, Vernon Carey was 32nd pick, Daniel Oturo was 33rd pick. That is just in last handful of years of bigs drafted top of the 2nd. Just trying to be realistic of what type of return is out there for these type of selections and not assume everyone is a borderline starting level player.

Suns gonna draft eyeing Fleming per bleacher report. They definitely added to their front court with Mark Maluach, and Fleming if true. Suns did alot with very little.

Certainly second round picks more likely than not wash out after their first year or two. Kalkbrenner Is a seasoned All-American and multiple time Big East defensive player of the year though. I think it's far more likely he becomes a Queta or Richards type contributor at worst rather than than a washout. He's not an unproven shot in the dark like a Nanji..Given his resume and what's left to pick from he (and Reynaud) are certainly worth the gamble of Fleming is gone imo.

If the Hornets really wanted Fleming they had to know that they had to take him at 29. So I suspect they're not probably that heartbroken over this. They also definitely had the ammunition of 33 and 34 to move up to 31 if they desperately wanted him.

Wouldn’t mind Johnni Broom.

I contend that the idiot Jeffie will NOT bring in a direct threatening competitor to his beloved Tiddy project. Even second round.

Prove me wrong PeterPrincipal … I dare you!
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Broome would add much needed experienced front court depth immediately.

How about Diawara, plays for Salaun's old team so this FO must be following him.

Stumptown probably hopes to play Yang at the 4. Still think they could've gotten more for Simons than an old dude and 2r picks. All for culture and all but not when it costs real young talent. But who knows.
