Re: 2025 NBA Draft Thread 2.0
I’m not going to pretend like I know more than our FO. I had my preference, but completely okay with the pick. A lot of reputable mocks had him top-15 on their big board so it may work out in our favor.
This almost guarantees Goga isn’t being traded imo and subsequently not able to open the MLE (due to resigning Wagner). Not sure what this means for Houstan unless the plan is to send Penda/Richardson to the shadow realm most of the season.
Suggs/vet min./Richardson
Bane/Black/Howard
Wagner/TDS/Houstan?
Banchero/Isaac/Penda
Carter/Bitazde/*Wagner
I’m not in love with our depth unless we knock it out with our vet signings.

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Thread 2.0
I’d have been satisfied enough with Penda at 46.
But where we took him, with all the capital the move required, I don’t like it. Yeah, I know… second round picks…but we’ve traded almost all of our draft capital for the next couple of years. And Penda is not some plug & play sure thing.

If you see something suspicious, say something suspicious.

I do like his feel for the game. Seems to make a lot of good reads... do we need a playmaking SF/PF that can't shoot well though?

The player comparisons I've seen for Penda...
Boris Diaw, Thabo Sefolosha, Kenrich Williams, Nico Batum, James Johnson, Justise Winslow, Naji Marshall, DeMarre Carroll

Nobody on this board has a clue about Penda. I can read the scouting reports and watch some film but what should excite you is that our front office has seen a lot of him and made a big move to go get him. They like him...and apparently a lot of guys who do this for a living (look at those pre draft rankings) also like him. We should be excited about it!!

Cedric and Sion could shoot.
Penda reportedly cannot.

Bwhahaha the magic most likely got wrong intel.
I would think they would call the trade off if they saw that Fleming was taken. I’m sure they just wanted the person they picked.

Depends on what we do with Isaac. I'd keep him if he can re-gain his shot. But if he's just going to be above average defensively but lose his shot completely and also randomly take terrible shots, replace that with a cheaper option then

tbh, Fleming was the only guy I was remotely interested in with a 2nd rd pick. I wonder if Weltman made the move to get Fleming, only to be outbid by PHX a few minutes before.

Yes, but it looks like Penda can play the wing.RookieStar wrote:Knightro wrote:And if you're dying to get rid of Jonathan Isaac... now they can do it without much concern.

I've only watched a few minutes of his highlights, but I get strong Mo Wagner vibes from him. Not in play style, but in play ethos and attitude. He just looks like a grinder who's happy to body up and do the dirty work. More inclined to make the extra pass than Mo who's a play finisher. Looks like we drafted a guy who knows who to be part of a team and good team play.

That's not how this works. The trade only goes down if the guy we want is there.

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Thread 2.0
Only reason i dont like this pick is because i think wr gunning for the ECF next season and we need every player to contribute right away no matter how small. That means the 2 7ft seniors.
But its pick #32 so really cant be mad about it

That’s true. However I will counter that to say that there are a lot of bust in the draft, even with great scouting reports.

I read totally opposite of Moe... Moe hates defense while Pendas bread and butter lol

We sure? Seems like they were announcing our trade right as PHX pick was being made. You're probably right but I'm not 100% sure.
