I don't think he's a big slug...there was clearly some bidding going on to get him...I feel like we got 2 first-rounders...and trade season just warming up, not to mention FA. 4 srps to get one srp is some kind of indicator of his market - and I'd rather have one guy who slid than an entire G league lineup.

I'd say we should be pretty encouraged considering our draft slots.

Penda measured 6’7.25” barefoot at the combine. Has a 6’11.50” wingspan. 242 pounds.

I hope this means we’re shipping out Isaac.

Why trade JI if this kid have yet to make the team? Or know if he’s actually a good defender in the NBA?

Because he’s $15m and we have no reliable guard depth whatsoever.

I'm kind of Team Isaac, but Mose knows D and $15m is a lot of guard, potentially

I don't think it's wise, even if they like both guys a lot, to assume that a pair of 20 year olds drafted 25th and 32rd can for sure give a team that has aspirations of making a deep playoff run immediate rotation minutes.

If they end up being able to contribute, great!

But they really shouldn't rely on that at all.

Which guy sounds like someone we'd draft?

Fleming from ESPN:

"Weaknesses: His feel for the game is a major question mark, as he does not process the game quickly on either end of the floor. He sometimes struggles to make basic passes and is highly mistake-prone off the ball defensively."

Penda from ESPN:

"Strengths: Penda is a strong-framed wing-forward with an excellent feel for the game, a 6-foot-11.5 wingspan and defensive versatility who fills up the stat sheet with rebounds, assists, steals and blocks."

I'm glad JRich has a little protection for the summer league.

Fleming made me think of the UCF kid, Hendricks...good profile & measurements but you can never assume some kid is going to develop those kind of defensive instincts and quick reflexive movement - Isaac is from Mars.

I'd say we should be pretty encouraged considering our draft slots.

4 picks to get a first round talent. thats how I look at it.

Funny thing was .... I missed the the beginning of the draft... Sat down.... turned it on as broome was getting picked ... Saw "Boston selected Penda... And thought ... Man ... Rich just keep getting richer... Lucky Celtics." Come to find out WE got the pick ... And the come on here to get see people grumbling because they didn't get who they wanted.

I think people play GM for so long before the draft that they can't separate from the reality of the situation.... And we have no power. There is only one player ... And one team that will get the player. Orlando fo has the deal with the fact and so do we. Just gotta hope that they made the right pick! #nocrystalballs

Wow, we got Penda. When I listed the guys I wanted most of the non greenroom invites I had Jase #1 and Penda #2. Had him ranked firmly as a 1st rounder and ahead of all 2nd round bigs, including Fleming.

Beyond thrilled with what Weltman has done. A+ draft IMO. Actually kind of surreal.

Our forward spots are occupied with a lot of young, unproven guys besides our obvious stars. Would be nice to get a cheap vet that can play either 3/4 spot.

I hope they can trade Isaac & use that money to get someone but not sure how some of these contracts look to other teams compared to our fan base lol.

Penda is the kind of guy who can have just such a wildly positive impact as a role player.

You need guys - especially on a team that has all-stars - who will play hard as hell, are unselfish and willing passers and are versatile defensively. He's all of those things.

If his three point shot develops into anything average or better, he's a guy who will just be hard to keep off the floor.

And the beauty is, they also have Da Silva who is kind of the invert as a 3/4 type who can shoot, but isn't really a good defender.
