French league quality of play is spotty, but it’s a physical league.

I preferred Raynaud, but Penda adds to our identity: hard worker, good character, solid passer, willing defender.

There’s some hope with his shooting, but we won’t know until he’s playing against NBA competition consistently.

Isnt the French league the 2nd league behind the NBA on terms of quality?

Seems like a great point-of-attack defender. I in no way see a JI replacement though

This probably goes without saying because of the 3.5 year age gap, but Penda has a lot more upside than Da Silva does.

Really did not expect this. I guess I got so stuck on the NAW rumor that I didn't think they would consider trading up for a non-center. I am beyond pleasantly surprised though.

Excited for summer league.

Penda fits in with our identity perfectly. Needs time to develop but you can't teach physicality, instinct and motor. This kid has that in spades.

He doesn't have to match Isaac's skill set exactly to eventually replace him in the rotation though.

In theory, Penda will bring elements of passing and ball handling that Isaac will never be able to bring.

No, can't replace JI's interior defense. Better on the perimeter currently, but he can block some shots. He has remained nimble even though he is a little thick, but wouldn't be surprised if they try to get him to shed a couple pounds.

IMO, he's potentially TDS' replacement. You likely agree that we will be bringing Mo back so we need some sort of interior defense to pair with him.

Seems like a nice body to throw up against one of the NBA's long list of excellent forwards. Like if one of Franz or Paolo is on the bench. Especially if JI is injured. Especially if Suggs is injured and Franz is defending guards again.

Penda led the French U20 team to the Eurobasket gold medal last summer as a 19 year old.

15 PTS, 14 REB, 5 AST, 1 STL, 6/8 FG, 2/2 3PT, 1/3 FT in the championship game.

It looked like he was a heavy minute rotation player on a playoff team this year, too.

Pepe will love Penda. Euro team-first player? That’s his fav archetype after Kawhi.

Might even consider changing his username to Pependa1991

I agree. I actually think Penda completes our defensive arsenal. He’ll be playing against wide body wings.

Okc has dort, we have penda. Suggs and caruso.

We just drafted TDS last year as a roleplaying wing. We didnt even have time to develop him. We already thinkin of replacing him?

there aren't infinite rotation spots and minutes. I don't see Mo being moved and I can't see Penda being the PF to pair with Mo... so that leaves the backup SF spot for minutes. I could be wrong though. It looks like his coaches loved putting him on the ball defensively.

Yea I don't know why anyone is talking about him replacing anybody. This is a competitive basketball team with 15 roster spots. The best players will play. This guy is going to come in and compete...so is TDS...so is Issac...go on down the line. Get quality players and let them compete for rotation spots.

Read on Twitter

"Opposing scorers have an astounding 27.3% FG (!) when guarded by Noah Penda in isolation.

The multi-positional defending, lateral quickness, physicality & overbearing length — these are the makings of an All-NBA defender & Penda fits that bill."

He plays for the city of Le Mans? That's neat.

His nickname can be "Le Man"
