How great will Flagg become?
My take, I'm watching the next Lebron James type of player coming in. First time I watched Flagg, he bullied Matas Buzelis of the Bulls while Matas was a senior and Flagg was a Junior. Completely dogged him. His development will accelerate even more with the guys he has around him in Dallas. HOF's everywhere.
I'm thinking a long 15 year career. Multiple MVPs. Maybe a DPOY. And 2-3 titles. Him and Wemby are the future faces. What do you guys think Flagg will become ? Am I wrong, luke warm or totally on the ball?

Re: How great will Flagg become?
I think his median outcome is something like Jayson Tatum - an elite two-way wing who's a perennial All-Star and All-NBAer. Which is an insane projection for an 18 year old kid btw
To become more than that, he needs to level up his shooting, playmaking or defense to truly elite levels. Right now he's probably a B+ in all those areas, but he needs to get to A+ in at least one to become an All Timer like you're suggesting.

Yeah but I feel like Flagg plays with a chip on his shoulder. Not even like Lebron but more Kobe. While Tatum is pretty passive and vanilla. But good comp.

I expect him to be a beast. My lazy comps...
"Bust" is still a solid glue guy sort of like Tayshaun Prince.
Medium outcome probably something in the ballpark of Paul George.
Ceiling is an MVP contender like Prime Kawhi or Pippin.

Floor is a Detlef Schrempf level guy, which is very good because Schempf was an excellent player. I don't see many scenarios where he doesn't have at least the impact of Schrempf.
Ceiling is some Kawhi/Tatum combo.
I'm confident he can do "most" things at a pretty high level in the NBA. The only questions are if he can create well of the dribble and do a good amount of ball handling. If he can do that then I think he projects as an absolute franchise player. If not, I still think he's a core/pillar level player critical to a winning team's success.

Brian Geltzeiler: You see Mark Jackson getting a head coaching job as early as next year?
Adrian Wojnarowski: Not if people make calls on him. Not if an organization is doing their homework and knows all the things he brings with him.

Re: How great will Flagg become?
I don’t know if he’ll be a multiple MVP type player, considering he’s not going out there looking to score 30 a night, and he’s fine playing off-ball and setting screens on offense. Tatum will probably never win a MVP, KG only won 1, and Pippen and Stockton never won a MVP.
Flagg may be like a mix between KG, Tatum, Pippen, and Stockton, and never win a MVP.

At minimum he should be a franchise player, which is a pretty good floor. That gives you a good shot at becoming a superstar.

he'll make the multi-skilled role player what mj made the sg/wing
the common denominator for superstar status has always been AS SCORER/dominant offensive force.
flagg doesnt sound like that's his lean. the only outliers were magic and bill. nonetheless, good well rounded players always end up scoring lights out as superstars

Somewhere between MJ and Scottie. So maybe that's Kawhi. Think he has the ability to be one of the most complete all rounders and maybe that will be what some nitpick on him.

Re: How great will Flagg become?
Im not sure he will be ever be a number 1 scoring option on a title winning team, Im fairly certain he will make 2 or more All NBA teams though out his career unless he gets injured. His floor is just so high.

He'll be nice. Real nice.
All human life on the earth is like grass, and all human glory is like a flower in a field. The grass dries up and its flower falls off, but the Lord’s word endures forever.

If he was drafted to a tanking team I would be much higher on him. But in DAL, I don't see many avenues where he becomes an MVP candidate or even an all star before his rookie contract is up. So definitely not LeBron

Re: How great will Flagg become?
Will he be a world beater from the first tip? Can't say for sure, but he sure has that level of pressure on him given the player he was drafted to replace.
It would be stupid of the Mavs to put exceeding high level expectations on him as an 18 year old rookie. They need to bring him along at a sufficient pace and see how it goes; if he tears ass right from the tip, let him fly and let's see what happens.

How? AD will be an excellent teammate/mentor to Flagg outside of the game and alleviate the load on the floor so teams just don't target Flagg defensively. The roster has championship experienced vets and a coach on it that will give him massive amounts of knowledge. And he gets all the PT he wants.
This is almost a Tim Duncan/Spurs situation he's walking into here.

Jayson Tatum is not a median outcome, it's high end outcome...
