for positive draft vibes today we picked up pizza from a new pizza joint here in Ballantyne. First time I've eaten there. They had a pizza called "the Hornet" that I obviously had to try.

https://www.finalepizza.com/menu#pizza

Hornet
pepperoni, Calabrian peppers, hot honey, basil

Sadly I'm restricted to gluten-free pizzas but it was as solid gluten free pizza. And my girlfriend's non gluten free pizza looked pretty delicious. Not sure if it's my new favorite gluten free pizza in town or not. crust at Providence promenade, bisonte, lorenzo's, mellow mushroom, all some pretty solid gluten-free pizza as well. Lately crust has been my go to.

Not about the Hornets draft, but I saw someone post a comparison of Hansen Yangs atheltic testing compared to the other 1st round centers and he did better basically across the board than everyone except Danny Wolf. I added Donovan Clingan to the comparison as well since hes the Blazers presumed future center.

Yang ----- 7'1.0" / 7'2.25 WS / 253lbs / 30" Max Vert / 11.79 lane agility / 3.01 shuttle / 3.38 3/4 sprint / 9'3" standing reach
Maluach - 7'0.75" / 7'6.75WS / 253lbs / 30" Max Vert / 12.05 lane agility / 3.44 shuttle / 3.50 3/4 sprint / 9'6 standing reach
Queen --- 6'9.25" / 7'0.5 WS / 248lbs / 28" Max Vert / 12.45 lane agility / 3.27 shuttle / 3.52 3/4 sprint / 9'1.5" standing reach
Wolf ----- 6'10.5" / 7'2.25 WS / 252lbs / 30" Max Vert / 11.26 lane agility / 2.91 shuttle / 3.51 3/4 sprint / 9'1" standing reach
Clingan -- 7'1.75" / 9'7" WS / 282lbs / 29" Max Vert / 12.06 lane agility / 3.38 shuttle / 3.46 3/4 sprint / 9'6.5" standing reach
Sorber --- 6'9.25" / 7'6 WS / 263lbs / no athletic testing / 9'1" standing reach

I'm sure its not going to be an issue that Kon Knueppels lane agility is nearly as bad Clingan/Malauch and worse than Yang.

Now that we have ball knipple tiddy and Kalk I've already been looking at Players to round out our starting lineup from next year's draft.

John "Starfish" Rosebud, shooting guard from Brown University

Paco "the Taco" Panocha, forward from Real Madrid

Harry "the Clam" Furburger, center from Forest City Community college.

To quote Shorsey. "they don't hate to lose?" I think we've had a lot of players that love to win And I've been wanting more players that hate to lose. There's a difference.

Yeah I interpreted that to mean that they all texted him who they wanted and he was like "that's nice" and then just picked whoever the FO wanted, but maybe they actually are more involved / influential than I thought.

This tells me they are committed to this core of Melo/Miller/Bridges

Which is confusing because they said they want high character guys but one of our core guys is not high character.

It's hard for me to believe this dude vision when he's saying one thing but doing the opposite for certain players. They also told us Mark was our core last year then tried to trade him at the trade deadline.

Peterson is just talking at this point. Show me your vision quit telling us the vision and you're not coming through 100% on your end.

Well they’d better find somebody to get through to these guys. Miller is the one of those 3 who I think has the focus and leadership to demand they get on the train. Melo is a goofball and Miles is his running mate. But maybe they have heard enough players, analysts and hopefully our coaches saying the same thing, which is essentially “you ain’t goin nowhere unless you get dedicated to becoming great”. I actually think Miles of all people started getting religion later in the season. He genuinely seems to be wanting his brood of kids to feel like they have a daddy. He wants to be here cause this is where they are all scattered about the city. He gets traded, they’re a long ways away.

If Melo keeps playing around at stuff he’s going to miss out. I fear Coach Lee is afraid to chap these guys. You do lead people more by convincing them to come along and all work towards a common goal. But not holding anyone fully accountable will lose the others. The new rookies coming in don’t strike me as slackers in any way. I suspect they’ll demonstrate leadership in their own ways.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I'll defer to the experts who are happy with the Kon pick. Hopefully he shows some of the playmaking he showed at Duke. Not who I wanted but maybe it'll work out anyway and VJ was already gone.

I'm still not entirely over not landing vj. I do like kon and I do think he's going to add some very valuable things to this team. But I really wanted Vj. And my goddess he just so easy to root for. They're already nicknaming him the "generator" because of the story about how his family didn't have power for seven years and had to use a generator for electricity. He would have been perfect for this team.

I wanted VJ too. Would have given the sixers Mark and taken back Drummond to do it.

My top five in who I would have drafted changed with one player AFTER THE DRAFT. That player is Tre Johnson. The reason why is because I like the SUIT he wore on draft day. I am not a GM but I have said before that GM's look at SO MANY different factors when choosing a player. His suit indicates or could indicate individuality, and confidence as well as swag. When going to an ivy league school they often are not impressed by just your grades. They like to find out do you have any activities or charities etc... I actually think Kon was a good pick tho and wanted him over VJ, but wouldn't have picked him if I were GM outright

My top 5 in who I would have drafted are

Flagg
Harper
Fears
Johnson
Raynaud
UPDATED 7-5-2025

These are who I want with our picks in order

Fears
Raynaud
Kam Jones
Taelon Peter - or Will Richard
Chase Hunter - summer league invite
