Dixon signed with the Lakers.

Sixers signings:

Hunter Sallis G Wake Forest
Igor Milicic Jr. F Tennessee
Izan Almansa F Perth
Saint Thomas F USC

If nothing else we got some great names there.

Igor is theoretically a perfect stretch 4 who can play small ball 5 at 6'10" - he can shoot the 3, attack closeouts, good passer with high BBIQ and court vision, solid rebounder and shot blocker, makes hustle plays. The problem is that he was maddeningly inconsistent last season and he was being counted on as a big contributor coming in as a senior transfer. He went through a bad shooting slump for a chunk of the season, and was unselfish to a fault even though Barnes pushed him to look for his shot.

I thought he was destined for a long career in Europe, but I'd love to see him stick here.

They just kept drafting varying sized PGs to try to make for their PG sized gunner.

It’s outdated thinking that ignores where the game is headed.

High skilled bigs that allows you to play double bigs
2-3 and maybe even 4 guard units.

I'm not gonna go that far; but this feels like a big hedge against Joel not playing next year or having a repeat of playing a week and then out 3 weeks. Better to get subpar play from a rookie at $2mil than subpar play from a washed vet at $5mil.

And maybe he’s the Drummond hedge, essentially a best case version of Drummond. You still get the offensive rebounds and stocks, but unlike Drummond, he’s not a zero on offense.

+1. I viewed this as a Drummond replacement more than anything.

Just as a side note, Ace will be there Monday for the press conference, right?

Two years ago, Johni Broome went through the predraft process before opting to head back to college. That’s when he first met with the Sixers. So he has an idea of what the team will expect from him.

“They told me what they like about me, and what I need to work on at college,” Broome said. “I came back ... and they were impressed with the jump I made. They are excited about the things I can do that’s going to translate, making playing, obviously, defensively and my touch around the rim, and my playmaking, rebounding at a high level. They are excited about all those things.”

I do trust Morey when it comes to draft picks. So giving the benefit of the doubt. Besides, he's a 2nd rounder, an early 2nd rounder though Lol.

So now we transition to FA, with basically our roster set with our 3rd PG spot open (probably Lowry as a mentor?) and a T-MLE exception for a big forward?

PG: Maxey, McCain, Lowry(?)
SG: Grimes, VJ Edgecombe, Gordon, Hunter (2-way)
SF: Oubre, Edwards, Ricky IV
PF: George, T-MLE, Broome, Reese (2-way)
C: Embiid, Bona, Drummond

I like our two-way guys too - Morey has been consistently good with the draft & UDFA. I’m excited for summer league.

Replace Lowry with Butler. And I don't think we use the T-MLE since we already will have 14 players and we usually leave a spot open, plus we need breathing room under the 2nd Apron after resigning Grimes.

PG Maxey | McCain | Butler
SG Grimes | Edge | Gordon
SF Oubre | Edwards | Council
PF George | Broome | OPEN
CE Embiid | Bona | Drummond
TW: ??? (maybe Hunter, Reese, Milicic, etc.)

That's it. Don't expect much else this offseason.

If not a franchise tag b/c god forbid we prevent players from getting their bag and then demanding out. Maybe a weighted system; like only 80% of a homegrown talent's salary counts towards your cap. If you rely on preying upon other teams to find your stars (Lakers) the cap is 110% of the salary.

The NFL has the same issue. This current CBA is basically a hard cap. Owner's are afraid of someone like Balmer not caring about how much he spends. A salary cap never has anything to do with parity, it has to do with how much money one can make.

Difference with the NFL is it is a lot easier to retool each and every year of the draft regardless of where your draft position is (outside of the QB spot). NBA the chances of replacing top tier talent without having a Top 5 pick is very rare.

LMAO, get your popcorn ready. This will be fun.

The difference in today's NBA is that these draft picks made at least some money in college via NIL. Not $40MM, but probably enough to pay bills for a year.

Maybe it was because I watched less games as we went full tank mode - wasn't Lonnie Walker a much better player than Buter? I think he LW played a good bit of PG and was okay. He's also under club option for this year.

Apparently he made $1.6m last year. More than enough to hold out and re-enter the draft.

Any situation where Danny Ainge gets screwed sounds good to me!

I hope somebody in Ace’s life convinces him to drop the agent and go with real representation ASAP.
