Whitmore only has a single season in the NBA, but Mathurin has a lot more talent and trade value. Carlisle getting him to finally play defense really matters.

Two, right? Agreed that Ben has (way) more value.

Washington still has a trade exception from Valunciunas, and a bunch of future 2nds for HOU if this is true. Bring him home, let him compete w Bilal.

Ten seconds for Whitmore. Funny too set a record.

I think Chicago would be a great landing spot. Put him next to White.
What would be the deal?
Whitmore into TE. Get a first protected 12/10/8/6/seconds?
Or, chi seconds in 2028/29/30 and the por first protected 14/14/second.

You seem to want to start with a flawed premise, Coby White is not the Bulls PG. He's their SG. He honestly didn't work out when they tried to make him a PG years ago. They're resigning Josh Giddey as the PG, and they've got Lonzo Ball who is a PG. They have Kevin Huerter as White's backup at SG.

So sure from your HOU perspective he's worth a lot, to the Bulls a guy who hasn't played 100 games at low minutes, no way 3rd string equals any FRP even that PORT pick

I’d like to see what Cam could do in our pace offense with Giddey running.

Cam seems to be a lot like Mathurin in that they are both more half court players that want the ball and want to go one on one.

If there is some irrevocable problem between Cam and the team / coaches, sure move him for whatever. Outside of something like that, I don't think it makes sense to sell now vs the trade deadline given the value shouldn't change much. Give him a chance, 3rd year, Jalens gone, we could use his exact skillset, lets see if he can help the team or improve his value.

I doubt he is being shopped.
The current roster opens up more opportunities for him to actually play.

Yeah that's only 9 guys - hardly a crazy amount of depth. And you really want more depth than you think you need to get through a full season. I'd want 12-13 guys that I trust for rotation minutes even if a couple won't get them at full health.

Whitmore is worth more to us than a few seconds or a heavily protected first.

I would only get rid of him if there was a real beef between him and the coaching staff and/or the org to point of no return.

If that isn't the case the he is way more valuable to us than whatever package we can get back.

Devin Carter for Whitmore straight up?

I think that would be a home run for Houston

Why? Carter is two years older And was even less effective last year

I'm very skeptical in Whitmore as a playoff player and Carter (in theory) is exactly the type of guard defender they could use for the postseason. I'm putting more stock in Carter as a prospect given how last season was derailed by injury but you're right, he was pretty bad last year so it's possible he's just not any good. Maybe home run is an exaggeration but it would be the type of gamble I'd make for Houston

I would trade Okoro and Cavs 2026 1st for Whitemore.

Those are just the players on guaranteed contracts.
The Rockets are likely to keep Aaron Holiday & Nate Williams and re-sign Jeff Green & Jae'Sean Tate to reasonable deals.
N'Faly Dante is a capable 3rd center who will probably replace Jock Landale (either on a two-way or a standard contract).
Their only real NEED is another true shooting guard/combo guard.

Nate Williams sucks and Tate will probably go somewhere he has a better shot to play but they can fill those spots with other minimums. Holiday is only kept if they don't find a use for most of the mle.

It's starting to sound like he's gonna get dumped for next to nothing which is unfortunate if it's true

Even if this was a possibility (Stepien rule) I would hate this for the Cavs.

Agree that Houston's obvious need is to upgrade at G -- which is probably the only upgrade worth trading Whitmore for. I don't think FVV/Amen/Reed is enough depth at guard, especially if injuries occur. Amen should be more than capable of shifting up to SF if needed, but I don't see any forwards that are a good fit to shift down

I would take just Ayo or Lonzo for him but I'm prepared to get nothing even though i'd rather hold him

Any developing team with a need for a high usage scorer should take a chance for a late protected 1st. I'm looking at Washington, Brooklyn, Utah....
