Uhh ya that makes a lot of sense... The guy is leaving a day after the draft, but prefers short term value vs long term gain, eventhough he won't be here to experience either... Make that make sense?

I highly doubt Masai was in charge of any major decisions during this draft process. Seems like Bobby was in full control with Masai in a support role for this draft cycle.

I was worried that Rogers was another idiot owner like Ishiba, and if so, this confirms it.

Masai's patience wasn't for everyone, but that was the ideal way.

I'm glad we did trade for a rental in KD. It never seemed like a Masai thing to do. But maybe that was the final straw.

I really want to see this team as constructed try to compete this year.

I like the coach, I liked the management and scouting, I liked the direction the team was going in.

Now it seems like the bottom could fall out.

In a vacuum, Masai leaving isn’t the end of the world. Executives and GMs come and go, and it was inevitable this was going to happen someday, especially since Masai has already delivered a championship and in a sense delivered on his most important task.

But the problem is the danger of falling to a Sac Kings, New Orealsn Pelicans type of level with incompetent ownership and front office staff that refuse to invest in the team or meddle. And a bunch of old hockey guys who hate basketball are the worst to have to take over.

He was obviously already "gone" before the draft. So I doubt he was making the decisions the last 2 days.

You know what, maybe ownership is simply siding with Kendrick?

lmao maybe was already working for them considering the moves they have made so far

Atlanta apparently deserves Antholopoulos and Masai more than Rogers thinks we do.

This is their way of getting back at us for the 92 World Series

Yeah they weren’t paying Masai what he’s gonna be worth on the open market. Some other team will

Yea prob thought $15 mill a year for this performance (fumbling FVV/OG/Siakam, Poetl Trade) wasn't worth. Bobby will get a bit of pay bump and be the top man. Tolzman prob second in command now.

Yeah, to make this a total organizational clear-out would be such an own goal. Masai was a scout, Bobby was a numbers guy. You need scouts in upper management. Dan must stay, in a position of (increased?) authority.

Masai gone.
Shanahan gone.

Shapiro still here.

It pays to be a MAGA loving buddy of Ed Rogers.

So Keith Pelley is the guy we’re going to hate now. I looked up his resume and the guy is a former Rogers media executive. Shocker. Let’s hope he knows ball :nonono:

Tells you something when the reaction is universally aligned.

I really hope Masai wanted to bail vs Ed pushing him out. Raptors future gonna suck if this is how Ed rolls.

As mentioned, Shapiro is getting a lot of rope from ownership because he was hired by Ed Rogers. Masai obviously was not so this was inevitable. The key to this is going to be who they get to replace Masai.
