Makes me sad. This was always likeIy after Rogers assumed control, but the timing is kind of ridiculous. I wonder what comes next for him. The Atlanta job might seem appealing. They are in a good position to trade for Giannis after acquiring the Pelicans/Bucks unprotected pick

WTF does a media exec know about the landscape of the NBA?!

you could say same thing about Tim Lieweike, what does a property developer know about sports, but was the best MLSE president.

Are you okay?

He was the president of the Nuggets in the 90s.
And under his leadership the Kings won the Stanley cup in 2012. And the Galaxy won four titles.

So he's really going to Atlanta.

There well be a bidding war for Masai. He should take a year off to stick it to them.

lol what does this even mean? Is he taking them with him or are we keeping them here?

it means he knew he was going to be out so he was trying to get his guys signed long term. but a new president will probably get rid of them anyway to bring in his guys.

That's the weird part. They're supposedly keeping Bobby, but why are they filling in the President role here but leaving it open after Shanahan left? lol basically seems like they want to give Bobby autonomy.

Masai did a great job for many years, but you’re judged by the success of the team, and the team has not been successful lately. I think it’s time for a change.

So they are hiring CAA to look for a new President.
bob myers is a CAA client, he might be one of the few names, but CAA is a big player.

All love for MU. But this is long overdue. He was horrible the past 4 years. But we at least knew what we had in Ujiri.... does Bobby now running the show ?

For now.

The writing is on the wall.

Yeah they're going to bring on a new president but not allow him to have his own GM?

Well they extended Bobby which is odd.

Leafs didn’t bring in a new president. I don’t think raptors will either

Serious question: how much has Masai been involved in the recent trades and picks? Bobby has been GM for some time now, and we still keep assuming he's just Masai's puppet.

I sense Masai disagrees with some forthcoming deals, perhaps of RJ, whom he likes and made promises to. Getting axed/resigning absolves him of any promises he made.

Interesting they’re looking for a new President for the Raptors and not the Leafs?

I think Bobby has been running the show for many years now….Masai was just there to give final approval.

It's funny you say that because listening to Myers so often this season on ESPN, I kept thinking to myself that he seems dying to get back into a FO role.

Exactly. Typical corporate BS.

The new president isn't going to want to hire his own guy? He's going to want to keep the guy who was hired and looks up to the previous president as a mentor? I'm sure.

Pelley's statement said they are looking for a new president.
