We’re going to trust ed rogers to hire someone better than Masai now. We are screwed

I wasn’t happy with what Masai has done the last few years but **** that clown Pelley.

Corporations should not be allowed to own sports teams.

bob myers is a CAA client, he might be one of the few names, but CAA is a big player.

I wouldn’t mind Bob

Figured it was coming once Ed took full control and it’s about time.

Ed clearly wasn’t gonna keep paying Masai a ludicrous amount of money for something he accomplished 6 years ago and Masai’s ego wasn’t gonna allow him to take a pay cut given what he accomplished. The conflict between those two was inevitable and it was always gonna lead one way.

While I do wish we got the entire regime out to start fresh rather than just this, it’s a start to some much needed change for this franchise.

Long over due is pretty crazy lmao they won a championship in 2019 and made the 2nd round game 7 in 2020. Even 2022 was seen as mostly successful. The only year he held on too long was 2023. Then he tore it down the year after and we've been rebuilding since.

Theres no replacement. Bobby is top dog now. Basically business as usually without President. Leafs got rid of Shanaplan but kept the GM.

The Raptors post championship have not been well run, and Webster has been there the whole time. Removing Masai but keeping everyone else seems counter productive, unless Webster was just getting Masai coffee the last six years.

If the connection between Masai and Giannis was really that important he would have been a Raptor years ago.

Different time in his career. He wanted to zag away from superteams, prove himself on his original team. Now he's got a chip and the team is dreadful.

The FO can be clinchers in decision making. Durant chose the Nets over Knicks in part because of how bad Dolan was.

If they hire a new President and keep Bobby it might be a case of handing Bobby the keys for player personnel and having the President be hands off personnel and focused on big picture.

Bobby might be ready. I hope so.

That is how it was but that doesn't change anything. It's about Masai having connections and being likeable. You can have all the strategy you want in the NBA but this league doesn't work like that. You need connections and you need a figure head that is respected by the elite players.

The CAA part? it is in Keith Pelley's press release.

Yeah they're going to bring on a new president but not allow him to have his own GM?

Exactly. Typical corporate BS.

The new president isn't going to want to hire his own guy? He's going to want to keep the guy who was hired and looks up to the previous president as a mentor? I'm sure.

I lean towards the new president being a pencil pusher that ownership has under control

lol what does this even mean? Is he taking them with him or are we keeping them here?

it means he knew he was going to be out so he was trying to get his guys signed long term. but a new president will probably get rid of them anyway to bring in his guys.

That's the weird part. They're supposedly keeping Bobby, but why are they filling in the President role here but leaving it open after Shanahan left? lol basically seems like they want to give Bobby autonomy.

they want their guy in place. president is a much higher position than gm so they want the top guy being the one they hand picked.

WTF does a media exec know about the landscape of the NBA?!

you could say same thing about Tim Lieweike, what does a property developer know about sports, but was the best MLSE president.

Are you okay?

He was the president of the Nuggets in the 90s.
And under his leadership the Kings won the Stanley cup in 2012. And the Galaxy won four titles.

Learn a thing or two before talking.

i was wrong
