We were targeting a pro ready big to counter-balance KAT just as I suspected in the draft..it was Fleming but we couldnt pull it off.

Fleming is basically the ideal prototype next to Towns..... low usage, floor spacer on offense and rim protection.

Pretty sure Giannis wouldn't be making his decision based on a 2nd round pick.

He is goong to San Antonio or OKC. Whoever has picks to send back with some younger players. We don't have anything the Bucks would want.

You say it like it is true, but it’s not. He was a better 3-pt shooter than Tatum and Brown, Herb Jones, McDaniels, Jimmy Butler, Amen and Ausar Thompson, Jalen Johnson, Jalen Suggs and just as good as Jalen Williams or Trey Murphy. I understand that this sounds hard to believe if you read this board too much, but most posters will always compare their guy’s best with our guy’s worst performances. The grass is not always greener on the other side.

both jayson tatum and jaylen brown have a different role on their team than mikal bridges, so when i said mikal bridges was a pretty poor 3-pt shooter, i meant for his specific role.

you also really can't compare the 3 point shooting of tatum and bridges straight up and get an accurate comparison. mikal bridges is mostly a catch and shoot 3-point shooter that will occasionally take a pull-up 3. on the season he shot 37% on catch and shoot attempts and 26% on pull-up 3's. jayson tatum takes a mix of pull-up 3's with the occasional catch and shoot 3. on the season he shot 40% on catch and shoot attempts and 33% on pull-up 3's. tatum in the bridges catch and shoot 3 role would be a much better shooter even though he shoots at a lower % overall.

what herb jones, mcdaniels, the thompson twins, etc. have over mikal is elite defense. they really don't even have the same role as mikal because they're POA defenders that guard 1-4/5 on the court. i think the best comparison role-wise to mikal that you listed is trey murphy and yeah he wouldn't cost anyone 5 picks

I didn’t want to compare the players. You’re complaining but you have no point. That’s all.

Yea I fail to see the sense in any of this. Tatum takes different types of 3pt attempts, and Herb+ the Thompson twins are elite POA defenders but can’t shoot for shyt. Murphy wasn’t tasked with guarding out of position at POA all season (or hit by the most screens in the league while playing the most minutes in the league)… so what’s the point here exactly? Also, how do we know he wouldn't cost 5 picks? Bane was just traded for 4 picks and two good players… a starter and solid 6th man.

What are we doing here?

Bridges, with 2 or all 3 of Mitch and Hart and McBride can definitely turn into quite a few 1st round picks.

And its Giannis so maybe even KAT would be moved for that kind of player. But then you are keeping most of the first group of guys listed.

In any event there are ways to generate a bunch of first round picks.

I tend to agree he was very inconsistent in that role.

Two factors to consider:
1. How much of that inconsistency was because the role was not best suited for him and essentially Thibs fault?
2. How much was due to him essentially being the 4th scoring option on the team? Could this be mitigated somewhat by better line-up rotations?

Depending on the answers to those questions it can drive us to a number of different conclusions for what the potential best roster construction is moving forward....

Yeah, I agree. All the guys mentioned are different from their roles, to some of their skills to their minutes played.

The Knicks obviously overpaid for Mikal especially with his performance this year but I have said this before whoever they traded for was going to cost more with Bogey's contract included. Bogey was 36 coming off a terrible performance after being traded to New York and had multiple surgeries in the offseason. He didn't play a single game this year.

No team is voluntarily eating up $23M+ of their cap space for Shake Milton and the right to buy out Bogey. It would probably cost at least a 1st just to move that package with no value coming back. It cost the Knicks multiple 2nds just to dump 3 min contracts on the Hornets to complete the KAT deal and the Knicks sent more than enough cash to cover all 3 contracts. They did receive the draft rights for Nnaji in return though who may or may not make the roster at some point.

Lying about Mikal to make a point. He's a poor 3pt shooter who shoots better than all stars. But but but....

Mikal played far better than the gibberish talked about him on here. That's a fact.
