I’d rather clean house if Masai goes. I would assume this is intended to be transitionary and the new president will bring his own guys.

The telecom business has been slow. Gota makeup money elsewhere.
Yet the moron found half a billion for massive overpay on vlad... total incompetence...

Sadly, it’s probably as simple as Masai being Black.
Ed is hella racist. And just a garbage mf’ing POS.

FUnny enough - when Masai got hired he hung onto Casey and most of our roster and it worked out.
Personally, if I was hired as President, I would let status quo go for a year or two. Then if it fails you can buy a few years by saying "okay, lets try it my way now". From a personal selfish standpoint, the new President has nothing to gain by firing guys just signed to extensions.

Re: Grange: Masai out; rest of management stay
Maybe Bobby wanted to do some things these last few years and Masai did not. Perhaps, in retrospect, Bobby was right more than he was wrong and ownership noticed.
This IS likely un-cool un-fu$kable Ed Rodgers not liking smooth cool guy Masai not kissing his ass, so he got rid of him. But maybe it's more a case of Bobby proving he's got what it takes and the next President will be more corporate focused.
Wishful thinking probably.

yup, it's always good to have someone to blame.
On the flip side, Masai could also get hired somewhere and want to bring those guys with him.

Rogers didn't replace Shanahan. Ed is cheap AF. I doubt it.
That's my feeling as well. They will do a search and then conclude they don't need one and Webster just reports to Pelley.
We don't know the terms of the extension but I can definitely see them just making Bobby the President/GM.

dTox wrote:Not sure how I feel about this, was it Masai or Bobby making the player decisions over the past 5 years? If it was mainly Bobby, then we should have cleaned house entirely.
This makes sense to me. Ed has been famously on record in saying Masai was overpaid back in 2021 after Tanenbaum extended Masai to make him the highest paid Exec in the NBA at the time. Given Masai's losing record since then, it's likely Ed has held to this view and in contract negotiations for 2026, has asked Masai to take a pay cut, which I'm pretty sure Masai would not accept. Thus they agreed to part ways.
Therefore it wasn't purely about decisions made over the past 5 years in and of itself, but rather in the context of money being paid to Masai, hence not necessary to clean house. So Webster is likely a candidate but as part of due diligence, it's likely they are also doing an executive search.
