My brain is going to explode…who is CMB?

Murray-Boyles. The guy Toronto picked 9th overall.

Knightro, you posted a chart showing where all of the prominent media guys mocked Jase (it was very encouraging)…do you have a source for a Penda version?

I’m assuming some will find it a cause for optimism, because I’ve seen him mocked generally as a frp

They are pretty close to the same size. Penda is a little taller with a slightly higher standing reach. CMB has a little bit longer wingspan, and his vertical is like 5" higher. Both weigh around the same.

Obviously no idea who this guy is. Read the first few posts about how unathletic he is and had an idea of what the guy would look like...and it wasn't accurate lol. I guess he's kind of wide, but not overweight looking and he moves very well. Maybe we have been spoiled with guys like Dwight and AG or something to think guys like this are "unathletic".

Raptors have history of this "wtf, who is that" draft selections.
They drafted infamous Bruno Caboclo and "two years away from being 2 years away" scouting report.

But they also found OG; Siakam with similar strategy. No team has more strict "6'5- to 6'9" draft strategy than them.

Last year out of 17 men, 12 were 6'5- to 6'9 .
They even had that strange experiment where whole team was 6'6 to 6'9 to switch everything + Vleet, and they sucked.

6’7” and 241 pounds at only 20 years old :o

Jesus when this kid grows into that body ( Dwight Howard come run the weight room ) he’s going be a force with that agility and strength plus his speed should improve as he transforms that body.

I’m hoping he plays with some Mo like edge and can be our tough guy out there on the court that protects the stars.

Don't know much about him, but don't mind the deal regardless. Is it a lot? Sure. 4 2nds for 1 2nd is objectively a lot to pay. However....you can basically buy a second rounder if you ever want one, lol. They're not exactly a difficult commodity to grab if you need it. Teams are always looking to offload them in trade deals. Giving up two later round ones and two unknown futures for one where you really like the player? Good deal IMO.

Regarding Penda himself...I know zero about him, lol. Young prospect with some good physical features. If he can develop the shot he'll turn into a decent player it seems. Not worried about it. On the broadcast they said he has no intention of being a stash player and that Orlando intends to have him on the roster. I don't know if that's true, those guys were wrong on 60% of everything they were saying, lol (I remember Windhorst immediately talking about how we traded up for Cowherd and I was like...wtf is he talking about?). More than likely he sees very little time except for when injuries occur, more than likely he's going to spend time in Osceola.

Hopefully he turns into a decent player down the way that can help. Otherwise it's not a bad swing. Seems to have a lot of potential.

I caught that too. He clear doesn’t follow the Magic and other panelist got awkward instead of correcting him lol.

Low risk high reward move. Weltman said they seen him in person several times in the past year and they brought him in for a visit for the #25 pick. Said its up to him if he sees playing time.

Noah Penda reminds me of Marcio Santos, a player in our summer league roster.

Yea it's always funny when a broadcaster makes a very obvious mistake and they just breeze past it, and I think I could see it on Windhorst's face when the next person said we drafted Jase at #25, he looked like he realized he got teams confused. The broadcast would rather ignore it and pretend it didn't happen then call out their analysts for getting it a little wrong. I wish they'd do the opposite, it'd make for a better broadcast. But they're too worried about offending or embarrassing their on air talent instead of making sure to give the right info and make corrections in real time. It's a shame. I know putting on a broadcast like this isn't easy and these guys are expected to spit out a lot of info in a short amount of time, so I don't expect them to be perfect. But I do think the broadcast should be willing to correct their fellow analysts when they make a gaffe in real time.

Weltman said they had him in for a visit and that was never known info online that I know of. Kind of figured teams were getting visits without it being leaked. Also Weltman was the 2nd executive to basically say the 2nd round is becoming free agency with guys picking their spots.

As far as trading 4 2nds, one was pick 57 which is not any different than an UDFA as far as I am concerned. Last year the Thunder traded 5 2nds to get pick 26 and I would have Penda as higher value than pick 26 in last draft. Will gladly trade 3.5 2nds to take another chance on a guy they have ranked as a clear 1st rounder.

Penda did not make France’s EuroBasket training camp roster. Still could be a late addition, IMO, if someone drops out. They’re already missing a lot of big names.

Fwiw, just for comparison.

Tidjaun salaun, last year’s 6th overall pick, measured 1.5” taller and 2.5” longer in wingspan.

In the same league, Noah has almost the same numbers per 36mpg as Tidjaun.

noah shot worse than Tidjaun from 2point range, but Noah shot better from 3.

Noah is older by 7 months only.

4 second picks for Penda. He's like the Bane of the second round.

Penda is a big dude, something tells me he is gonna be a good solid rotation player in the nba. Seems to have a good composed head on his shoulders.

Tidjane shot 373 according to basketball reference. He needs to show something this season, or people start saying bust.

From what one of the draftniks said Noah's 3p% was low because he was a secondary creator and took a lot of end of possession bad 3s and logo 3s. If you look at his catch and shoot 3p%, I believe it was 37%, which means with some work he could be at least average.
