I'm open to it. We need a defensive minded assistant that can help construct a team defense that doesn't have us bleeding points with KAT and JB.
Yeah I’m open to him too. I would rather take a shot at him than Mike Brown.
I’m not sure any coach will be able to fix KAT and JB’s defense tho. Thibs is probably as good as it gets when it comes to defense so if he couldn’t do it I’m not sure any other coach can. But we’ll see.
I'm thinking we need to make our offensive system so potent that defense won't matter.
Like I don't think we will be horrible defensively if we clean up our 3 point coverage and mix in some zone concepts to help. But that's a big if.
We gotta drop buckets
Yeah I think the Knicks definitely want to get a more creative offensive coach at the very least. Defense is a different story

It’s like when lil bitches make subliminal records, if it ain’t directed directly at me, I don’t respect it

There's still no rush to end the search process. They can go until the end of July or August and it wouldn't really matter. Get the best candidate and the best staff. Period.

Re: Official Knicks Coaching Search Thread pt. 2 (update: poll added 6/18/25)
The longer this coaching search drags out the less I see the roster changing much during FA/trades, maybe right before training camp like last year something can happen but I don't see any big moves happening without a coach in place.
I wasn't too sure they wanted to make a huge makeover again anyway hoping a new coach can elevate what they already have though I guess if the right deal comes along Rose won't turn it down. The prospective coaches will just have to deal with whatever roster is there.

Re: Official Knicks Coaching Search Thread pt. 2 (update: poll added 6/18/25)
I don't like the idea of not having a coach at this period of the off-season when teams are openly engaging in trade discussions with free agency right around the corner. A new coach may have loved a trade offer given to Knicks for a player or drafting someone earlier in the 2nd round in the draft. I would want the person that actually has to lead the team to have input on potential opportunities for changes in the roster rather than just accepting whatever roster is put in front of them.
Things worked out relatively well with the Thibs hire but I also felt that he and the front office may have not been on the same page at times. From bringing in Fournier to trading a pick for Reddish for Thibs not play him to bringing in KAT etc some of the moves just didn't make sense. I want the input of the head coach so that every little move has logical reasoning this time especially with how little margin of error the team has now.

What matters more… getting the right guy or getting someone fast? It’s the former especially since we’re only doing minor moves from here on out it seems.
Get the right guy. Take your time, Leon.

Re: Official Knicks Coaching Search Thread pt. 2 (update: poll added 6/18/25)
Something to consider is that there are only 30 head coaching jobs in the NBA and the New York market is really high profile with a team that was a just couple games away from the finals so it's a very desirable situation...a prospective head coach candidate isn't going to walk away from the opportunity because they didn't get to give their input on the 2nd round draft pick or the vet minimum signing.

If we don't have a HC by next weekend something's really wrong with this situation.

Our franchise is so sketchy, it's like our front office prides themselves on being outcasts.

James Borrego the new betting favorite to be Knicks’ next coach.
Borrego (+250) is the new favorite to be the next Knicks coach, according to DraftKings, followed by Brown (+300), Nori (+400), and Jenkins (+400).

Doesn't bother Ishbia or the Adelsons to be among the sketchiest owners/ front offices in the league. And how do you feel about that genius Marks in Brooklyn, "Cheapo Marx"?

Re: Official Knicks Coaching Search Thread pt. 2 (update: poll added 6/18/25)
Ok. The last report was Borrego getting interviewed over the weekend. That means we will hear about that by Monday. Are they going to pursue Chris Quinn or anyone else? That's what we are waiting on.
Teams start talking to FAs on Monday. Knicks still talking to HCs. Some of you are cool with it. I get it. It just doesn't sit right with me. The one thing it tells me though, is it doesn't seem like they are looking to do much outside of spend the apron space. Aller will work some magic and we will see what happens sooner or later.
