Ace Bailey ? The kid has a bad attitude and his agent is dumb.

Hopefully he grows up and matures. Otherwise, a good player.

Now, Walter Clayton Jr?! That kid is a stud! The Jazz did well in the draft.
Hes like Jamal Murray, great scorer/playmaker. Good head on his shoulder, too and good attitude. Won championship in college (Florida).

When I watched him, he seemed to attack right pretty consistently. Didn't necessarily get all the way to the rim, sure, but that's a thing for top stars in the NBA anyway. To me, the issue always seemed more with his ability to go left and use his left hand more than "didn't have an off-dribble game."

Hmm, which games did you watch?

Check out his games earlier in the year. He’s more aggressive. Things flipped when they started the big 10 schedule

Okay, don't want to keep arguing with you all about it. I watched a lot of him and multiple whole games (he was topic of the month for Sixers fans) and was reasonably high on him, but at no point was there any indication that he had dribble moves. He's kind of like Andrew Wiggins in that he has a decent first step but can only drive in straight lines and has no wiggle or sophistication to his paint game or finishing. Some of it looks like how his body is set up; he looks like an athletic guy with a uikc lower body who's trying to sort of fling himself towards the hoop. The ball seems incidental most of the time.

I'll stop here, but I'd bet any amount of money that he scored very few of his points off self-created drives in which he got to the rim/paint. (To be clear I don't think this means he sucks--just that it was absolutely not a key part of his game in college, and his shooting and off-ball athleticism/size were his key skills).

Scouting reports in 97 talked about McGrady's shot and athleticism, and about how he needed to work on his understanding of the game, defense and playmaking, so... I guess if you squint some?

Yeah, it's a pretty bad look.

Yeah, it's starting to look like his NBA career is a lot more of an "if" than a "when" if he keeps this crap up.

I started to sour on him a few weeks ago when an NBA exec said if he goes to the wrong team he "could be out of the league in 5 years".

Despite the attitude/agent stuff...his on court movements are smooth and fluid. The talent is obvious but who knows if he'll put it all together.

I imagine it only got public because he let his wishes be known and salty organizations decided to smear him in the media instead of working with him behind the scenes. Now Utah has even less leverage should he refuse to report and allowing him to get away with it will result in a pissing contest. Ace would have to sit out or play overseas and re-enter the draft next year to follow through on his threats. This could get interesting

If he doesn't want to follow the rules, he shouldn't have entered the draft :banghead: . He could have proved himself in the G league or overseas for a year and then signed with anyone he wants.

Because he doesn't want to go there?

The problem is the lottery, not the player. Rookies should be allowed to control their own destiny. Why go to a place you know you won't commit to long term? Waste of time for everyone

i think the draft lottery and how american pro leagues handle this is so much better. and keeps the integrirty of the sport.

look at soccer. saudi oligarchs completely control the sport and where people play. its always the same teams, that are successful because they can afford to have trice the payroll other teams can afford. soccer has no integrity anymore. money controls the sport. and thats the big advantage the nba, nfl, etc. have. we can have an OKC vs indiana finals because of the draft and a lottery.

bailey gets paid an insane amount of money. i would basically live anywhere my boss would sent me, if he pays me millions of dollars salary.

i just think it comes across as really arrogant and i dont htink i would want somebody like that in my locker room
im bout dat action boss

High school hype + looking the part goes a long way for wings. See Cam Reddish who should have dropped to flier territory on draft day after his joke of a freshman year and been out of the league quick. Harrison Barnes has made a lot more money that he should have for the same reason.

Look at Steve Francis on draft day.

I actually wasnt aware of his story :D

Francis was expected to be a top-three pick and had targeted the Bulls or Hornets. He openly expressed his disinterest in playing for the Grizzlies, citing distance from home, taxes, endorsements, and "God's will" as reasons.

i mean at least he was honest and said the reasons. as far as im aware bailey didnt do that. not that he has to but it would make people more understanding i think.

taxes, distance from home and endorsements dont really apply to the bailey situation either. so its definitley still a bit weird to me.

Ew, please don’t insult Clayton by comparing him to Jimmer of all players. WCJ is a way better creator for his teammates, significantly more athletic and is just plain better than Jimmer at every aspect of basketball. Jimmer was a straight chucker, Clayton isn’t. He took tough shots when needed because that’s what the situation called for, but he’s not a a selfish player.

Agree to disagree. I'm perfectly fine with the comparison.

I don't think he'll be any good. He doesn't have the mentality.

Dude has bust written all over him. Like it's crazy the mentality this kid has when not even being the top prospect in his draft or anywhere close to it.

Compare that to Victor who is extremely professional, respectful, mature, humble, etc. It's nuts to me that someone can act like Ace coming into the NBA when the NBA's top young prospect (by far) is so mature in comparison. Dude needs to grow up big time. His clown manager, wannabe agent is not doing him any favors
