Naji Marshall for Donte Divincenzo

Post#1 » by daoneandonly » Fri Jun 27, 2025 7:54 pm

I'm a Naji stan/Mavs fan, so if this is far off Mods can lock it immediately. But seems like a move that could help both teams. Naji is a jack of all trades type guy and can slide in nicely with Ant and/or McDaniels. Also saves Minny some $, not sure if this helps them bring back NAW. Dallas gets a guard in DDV (thankfully V instead of R) who checks a lot of boxes on things they are missing and should be a starter with Flagg/AD/Lively.

Dallas needs to send some salary out to a 3rd team here as part of this.

I would have DDV more valuable so Dallas would owe some value as well. They don't have a lot to give, I think 2 2nds? And they shouldn't send a first.

Not sure DDV is enough of an upgrade to Klay/Christie for me to be too excited. Kinda eh? I guess

I think DDV's archetype is way more sought after. Marshall seems like a guy teams would be worried about getting played off the court in a playoff series because of shooting concerns. Ugly 27.5% last year and career 30.2%.

I don't think it's so far off though that it couldn't be salvaged. But I think the salary savings would have to matter against a certain threshold for MIN to do it.

I’m not trading Naji for Donte personally. Naji’s super underrated and an even better guy.

Don't see this moving the need for the Wolves, DDV is a productive player on a below market contract and his shooting is just as valuable to the Wolves as it would be the Mavs. As already pointed out 3pt shooting carries more value in the market and there is a dramatic difference in these two players there. Not to say DDV has the trade value of Bane but I think the Bane trade certainly highlights the value of an elite outside shooter, imo Naji Marshall and a handful of seconds doesn't even get consideration from the Wolves front office.

Does Minnesota need another guy in the front court? Sounds like they are trying to keep Naz and know NAW is gone.

McDaniels/Randle/Gobert/Naz/Beringer/Shannon

Backcourt seems really bad without DDV and NAW. Ant/Conley/Dillingham.

Right idea for Dallas, wrong team to deal with.
