Reportedly he told a team in the top 5 not to draft him. If they did, he wouldn’t report. Was that team Utah? Sure seems to fit previous statements about where he wanted to live and play (east coast).

Also his POS rookie agent ran his mouth defending how they did their pre-draft strategy. What a sack of crap. This thing could get very interesting if the silence continues today from Salt Lake City.

Lastly, maybe this guy IS going to be a drama queen. Hornets did NOT need another one of those here.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Ainge is a good GM not surprising at all. Ace will thrive in Utah.

if he turns up. he refused to do a press conference yesterday

People are hilarious acting like the Charlotte Hornets and Ace would have been a good pairing lmao

Go look at Ace Bailey college stats and then go look at Marvin Bagley 3 college stats. Ace is a bust and we probably dodged a bullet and a bunch of bull.

Are we just picking random players that have nothing to do with each other? lmao.
They didn't have anything similar to one another in college.

I wish I knew how to use KenPom in this way, but you can definitely look and filter it to look at players that had high usage like Ace and never got assists and had negative A:TO ratios. Basically none of them work out in the league

Bailey will be fine.

Based on what exactly?

Bailey averaged less than 1.5 assists per game. Do you know how inexplicably awful that is?

He's a tall shooting wing, that measured out smaller than people expected at the combine and shoots sub 70% from the FT line and sub 35% from 3.

He can't get to the rim, he can't pass or create for others, his shooting needs a lot of work before it gives anybody faith it can translate to the NBA.

Someone did one of those data queries recently, and not even one of those cherry picked ones with 10+ categories leaving you with Thad Young, Larry Bird and Lebron James.

Simply, every player drafted in the first round that has had an assist rate less than 10% and with a usage rate of 25% or higher (since 2008)

Image

The company seems about right, he's another hyper-athletic & low skilled small ball five.

Oh wait here it is. Let’s just bump this post

If Ace Bailey is better than Kon Kneuppel in 2 years none of this will matter, that is just the truth. This is all going to be cleared up in the next few days, he will be in Utah for stuff Monday. He will be playing in Summer League with Utah and if he plays great people will love him, if he plays bad then people will hate him.

Who has more value in the NBA Ja Morant? The gun nut, suspended by the league multiple times or Coby White who has a squeaky clean record? They were drafted top 7 in the same draft.

Glad to see the 48 hours standoff is over. It was silly to begin with. hopefully he gets some better representation around him sooner than lighter. Utah is a great situation for him, From the standpoint of being the focal point of the offense as soon as possible.

Guy looks like he's about to cry in that picture.

Glad we didn't draft him. For all his talent, he is absolutely spoiled.

I know nba players dont care two **** about the things that I think are cool. But out of all the nba cities Salt Lake City would probably be in my top five places I would want to live. Just to be able to get in my car and drive an hour and hit up five different absolutely gorgeous national parks. Have a cool **** set of mountain ranges right outside the city. I mean yes I could do without the religious side of things but the natural beauty side of it is pretty incredible. But again things that I find goal are not things that the typical twenty-year-old NBA player cares about.

fats pits on his geography hat and ranks his nba cities he would want to live in... Obviously you can see I prioritize cities in beautiful places in warmer climates. I hate cold weather, But would make exceptions for Denver and salt lake city. But I also want no part of the superhumid Deep South. Just way too hot unless it's on a beach. few of these places I would only want to live in if I had lots of money like LA New York san Fran Chicago. as an NBA player that wouldn't be a problem

Yeah as someone who loves mountains and snowboarding and stuff I think living in Utah would be sick. Esp if you’re an athlete in SLC you probably won’t have quite as many distractions either. Would be a great place to lock in for a few months of the year during the season and you can still own vacation homes elsewhere.

But I see why someone like Ace Bailey doesn’t think this way

His dumb agent is making him look bad for no reason. Ace doesn't play like he cares about anyone else and that may be a problem going forward. Hopefully he grows up.

I think it's a little more complicated than that. I agree the media and social media Made things worse than they probably were. It does seem like the Utah Jazz were in no rush to get him there. And I did read somewhere that typically they have their rookies come a day or two after the draft because they almost jump right into their Salt Lake Classic Summer League and then to Las Vegas so There's not much time between the draft and the start of their first practices.

But ace and his agent aren't blameless in this situation. Especially his agent. Let's be real here. his agent is in way over his head. Not a certified agent and ace is his only client. He clearly was looking out for himself more so than What was best for his client. ace got tracked through the mud, When it was completely unnecessary to put him in that situation. The only kind of agents that can get away with pulling that kind of **** are the heavy hitters.

But it's true that people love drama, myself included. And sometimes people perversely enjoy watching the world burn.

And I fully expect ace to drop 25 on the Hornets in the first game of the summer league. lol. because, of course.

i think its more ignorance and naivety than straight out selfishness by the agent. I'm sure he thought he was helping Ace with what they did, Ace wanted to control where he went so they tried. An experienced agent would know how to attempt it without hurting your image/brand so much and knowing when to accept your situation.

he has a whole season to turn it around and I'm sure he will get pretty of chances

That's probably a much better way to phrase it than what I said. And a year from now or hell even three months from now nobody's really going to care about this unless there's other incidents.

And obviously in the most Hornets tradition possible, now that the Hornets famously passed up Ace, he will most certainly go on to be the best player in the draft. lol.
