I just don't think Wiggins is a major upgrade to Rui. I can't imagine we are looking at the Lakers beating OKC next year and saying ya Wiggins over Rui was the big difference here. On the current team Rui is actually a better fit. There are some cases Rui can play small ball 5 and guard the opposing center. Rui at this stage is also better suited to stand in the corner than Wiggins.

Now if they get two legit center options, maybe you talk me into Wiggins being the DFS upgrade? But then they also need to find a capable backup guard with Vincent gone.

Center 1/Center 2
Lebron/
Wiggins/DFS
Reaves
Luka/Backup Guard

Wiggins is more agile, a better defender, and has deep playoff experience. He's also a more consistent player than Rui and an established starter, whereas Rui is not.

I don't care for Wiggins' game at all and I really want Miami to trade him, but Rui and Vincent -- with or without a 1st, Knecht or whatever -- is pawn-shop quality return for Wiggins, imo.

I'd much rather see Miami go after DeRozan, Cam Johnson, John Collins, Collin Sexton, Julius Randle...someone like that.

100% this! Though not DeRozan. Lol

I'm just trying to figure out who has $25M-$35M expiring that can be sent back without gutting their roster in the process. You've got:

Atlanta - Porzingis
Boston - Anfernee Simmons
Charlotte - Nurkic, Okogie
Chicago - Vucevic, Collins, and Huerter
Denver - Aaron Gordon, Dario Saric
Detroit - Tobias Harris
LA Clippers - Norman Powell, Bogdan Bogdanović
Memphis - KCP+
Milwaukee - Bobby Portis, Pat Connaughton+
New Orleans - CJ McCollum
Portland - DeAndre Ayton
Toronto - Jakob Poeltl+
Utah - Multiple variations
Washington - Multiple variations

I mean, you can probably cross off the teams that aren't likely interested directionally in terms of timelines so probably cross Boston, Charlotte, Portland, Utah, and Washington off that list. You can cross off the teams who probably would rather keep their big contracts rather than roll with Wiggins, so eliminate Denver and Toronto. That leaves Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, LA Clippers, Memphis, Milwaukee, and New Orleans. Given Atlanta just traded for Porky, I don't think they're tripping over themselves to move him. Chicago from a direction standpoint doesn't look awful, but swapping Vucevic or Collins for Wiggins makes them even smaller. Don't see Detroit viewing Wiggins as a big enough upgrade over Tobias Harris, plus I doubt they're looking to rock the boat after their first playoff appearance in a while. Is Wiggins an upgrade over Norman Powell for the Clippers? They're in a similar boat to the Lakers although they've got more SRPs to deal. Memphis is probably looking to duck further below to extend JJJ. Milwaukee is similar to the LA Clippers. New Orleans has Herb Jones, Jordan Poole, and Trey Murphy so I don't think they're in need of wings.

Adding value to pay Wiggins 30 million for 2 years seems like it a stretch. Would imply he is positive value on his current contract .

Have you ever heard of a three team trade?

Have you heard the concept that smaller contracts are easier to move?

Do you think it's possible their are things we could value more than just expiring deals? Maybe that's what we want from LA because it's all you've got, but maybe other teams will offer us other assets.

Just some thoughts...

Way too good for LA. Vincent isn't playable outside of Heat culture
