Masai is INCOMPETENT.
He always was.
I won't go into the LONG, LONG, list of all the glaringly STUPID decisions he made. And the decisions he wouldn't make, dragging his heels and evaluating, evaluating, that cost the Raptors dearly.
Now many people are going to jump to the argument that Masai was responsible for the Raptors winning their only NBA championship.
So of course, he's a basketball savant.
He's NOT! When Masai traded DeRozan and Poetl etc. to San Antonio for Kawhi and Danny Green, it was a very uncharacteristic -- and I would say desperate move -- for Ujiri, after years of frustration and ineptitude on the court.
And it worked, obviously. So hurray!
But just look at Masai's actions -- and a lot of inactions -- before and after that championship year. What he demonstrated, over and over, is chronic indecisiveness -- paralysis by analysis -- poor player evaluation and asset management, and the ever-looming possibility of boneheaded draft decisions.
Bruno Caboclo, anyone? And how about passing up Kyle Filipowski (and others) -- instead of Mogbo, for God's sake! mostly as a playmate for Scottie -- in last year's draft and Walker Kesler in 2022, both at times when the Raptors clearly needed help at centre.
Even this year's draft selection seems tinged with the familiar, OMG! we've picked WHO? reaction from many people. There's always second-guessing of course, and CMB might be good value. But you often must question the value -- and fit -- of MU picks.
Many people are going to object to what I'm saying, pointing to Scottie's pick, which went against the grain and worked out great so far, although the lack of shooting is still an issue.
And Masai -- I'd guess it's actually Bobby -- has made some really good personnel decisions lately, including trades that landed RJ, Quickley and BI, in separate deals.
But the torrent of flat out stupid decisions -- including completely botching the Fred VanVleet situation and losing him for nothing, similarly mismanaging the Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka dealings, the Goran Dragic debacle, the Thaddeus Young and Dennis Schroder messes and the careless discarding of first-round picks for minimal returns.
I could go on. People have short memories. But some of you will remember ... and understand.
Getting rid of Masai is the very BEST thing that could happen! My only concern is who will replace him? And if it's Bobby, how good is he? I've long believed that it was Masai who pulled the strings. Maybe, now that he's gone, Bobby will shine.
We have to hope so.

You're on an island with not many supporters when it comes to this take, u Masai haters aren't Raptor fans, y'all are fans of w/e ideology you subscribe to, probably a false poorly thought out ideology at that
