Offers for: Alvarado, Hawkins, Missi

Post#1 » by YayBasketball » Thu Jun 26, 2025 11:30 am

So Pels/Dumars/Weaver baffled us all with trading out of next year's draft. Let's gather some ideas on their next trade options to round out their roster for a playoff-pushing / clearly not-tanking roster.

Needs: starting Center upgrade and/or upgrade at wing.

Probably won't be traded:
-Zion (low value and Dumars publicly said they're keeping him)
-Murray (low value and Dumars said today that Murray is 'all in on this team)
-Poole
-Trey Murphy (more valuable to winning on this roster than anyone they could realistically trade him for)

So that leaves these guys as the main moveable players for upgrades:

Alvarado 4.5m: just drafted Fears as small guard who should take the backup PG minutes

Hawkins 4.7m: probably not much value, but his salary could be used to match something, sliver of 'recent lotto pick' allure

Missi: only available if they can get a real starting Center level upgrade. As of now he's the starter, but is he starting level on real team?

*Herb: only available for a big upgrade at Center or better wing. Unlikely, especially now as the only plus defender on the roster.

Just spit-balling here, couldn't be made until August 24...

Mitchell Robinson and Tyler Kolek for Bey and Alvarado.

Pelicans roll the dice on a potential high-level defensive center. Worst case scenario, Bey and Alvarado are converted to a decent sized expiring for a (illadvised?) deadline move.

Rather than pray for Robinson's health, the Knicks cash him into two bench pieces. With the inclusion of Kolek, NY saves $4.5 million, which should allow them to use the Tax Payer MLE on the best replacement big they can get while staying under the second apron.

Alvarado would be nice in Dallas to join the committee they are looking like building..

But it’s tough to make a fair offer. Not worth Gafford. And Dallas’ seconds are probably not enough.

As both a Celtics and Pelicans fan, I wish they had taken Malauch and then found a workable deal with the Celtics for Missi as his low cost and age would’ve fit well in Boston.

I’m not a fan of Queen at all, so trading their Pacers 2026 first along with an unprotected pick from us or the Bucks next year was infuriating. Hell, I’m not a fan of Fears either especially since I think he’s repetitive on a roster with Murray/Poole, but I’m used to being disappointed in Pelicans management.

Allen and Okoro for Herb, Alvarado, Missi, Hawkins. (Maybe not Hawkins, he's a salary/value balance.)

NOP upgrades a lot at C with a defensive anchor with efficient offense and downgrades their wing defense a bit. Okoro mitigates the defensive loss on the wing a bit.

Cleveland gets to shift Mobley to C and gets another starting-caliber big wing. Missi returns a backup C that doesn't have to play all the time and Alvarado covers some minutes at PG while Garland recovers from offseason surgery. Alvarado and Hawkins are nice digestible pieces to move at the trade deadline for tax/2nd apron avoidance.

So.. Naji for Alvarado and 40? Feels close? Or no 2nd back to Dallas?

Saving the 5 million dollars doesn’t really do anything for Dallas, but I guess it’s nice? Saving that money would make it easier to try to duck tax midseason when AD gets hurt and/or traded?

If Powell, Prosper and two distant seconds gets Alvarado, I take my first offer back..

What's the complaint with Missi as a starter? I haven't seen him, just want the archetype in ORL.

I would think Queen could play the 4 next to him and let Missi just do 100% dirty work (that Queen can't)

If I was a Pelicans fan I'd be rooting for Dumars to stop making trades lol

Give him a company phone but sneakily block all the other GMs numbers so he can't lose anymore trades. Well, actually... you can let calls from Nico through. No one else though.

Missi looked like a decent future starting center. So you trade a 2026 lottery pick to take a fat undersized replacement?

I'm sorry Pelicans fans.

Goga & Jett for Missi & Alverado?

Detroit- if Schroeder is gone, I’d like to see the Pistons take advantage of Dumars/Weaver and make an offer for him as a spark plug guard off the bench on a cheaper two year contract

Missi + Dejounte

Gobert
?

Some Jose + Hawkins trades i posted in another thread but meant to post here:

for Goga

for Jalen Smith + '28 CHI 2nd

for Powell + Prosper + Brandon Williams
?

An interesting one I saw:
Alvarado + Hawins + Matkovic
for Stewart

I'm sure Pistons fans will balk since they see Stewart as so valuable. But Langdon can get 3 guys he drafted and oversaw development of, Weaver gets his drafted guy.

I like the idea of J. Allen, but we could argue Herb is just as important to defense as Allen for this new Pels roster.

Who knows what actual moves are next, but they do have the full MLE to add a Center: Kornet, Lopez, Capela, etc. R. Williams makes sense in a swap for Hawkins.

Probably keep the team as is and see what we have when Murray returns. Maybe we can sign Capela.

Portland could use Hawkins.

Hawkins for Kris Murray?
