Re: 2025 Offseason Free Agency Thread
Any feelers on what Oubre's camp is thinking? Opt in? Opt out and resign? I felt like he has fit in pretty well and I like rooting for him.
Kids played football, drove cars, went to school, celebrated life; while soldiers, heroes, their brothers struggled to find their way home from war; and young boys watched and grew wiser in their dreams.

As long as Yabu doesn't ask for more than the tMLE of $5.7m for year 1 we can resign him. If he wants any more than that we can't.
Can still dump some contracts or sign him for one year with a promise for more next year(if he's willing).
He played his way back into the NBA. Had a really good season. He’s going to take the best deal and I would too. Doesn’t make sense logically to take a deal with a “promise for more”. That’s how you get burned and then people tell you “this is a business”.

Nice we got Edwards in a nice contract. I think he will have a really nice year, i can see him as starter level SF in the league, maybe more. Great pick by Morey.

Love it.

Thanks is that a guess or have you seen it reported anywhere. His current deal is pretty cheap for his contributions IMO.

No thanks. Signing Lowry goes against the youth movement. If we need locker room mentors, make him assistant coach. Position title 'Unc' Lowry.
Lowry would be lucky to see half the minutes he did last season. I don’t mind having a vet on the roster. I think all teams should have them. Helps younger players transition into the league more smoothly. The talks are different than it is with coaches. A bunch of young dudes on the team with no guidance isn’t good imo

I always wondered the same thing about guys like Juwan Howard who hung on so long after being a real contributor. Why not just make the guy a coach if that's his real role?

So are we basically looking at vet min contracts? Bol Bol is gonna finally become a 76er! I'll be so happy.

Re: 2025 Offseason Free Agency Thread
I think Oubre starts at power forward. I’m not sure if that’s Embiid’s preference, but historically we’ve usually played two tweeners next to him. Whenever he shares the floor with another true big, things tend to look clunky, and he gets a bit pouty. On paper, Oubre and George at the 3 and 4 could work, as long as Jojo is close to 100% on defense and the backcourt, whether it’s Maxey with Grimes or VJ, can hold their own defensively. It’s just strange how the dynamic has flipped.. it used to be Jojo carrying the team, and now it feels like the team has to carry Jojo.
Behind Embiid, it’s a mixed bag with Bona, Drummond, and Boome. I think Boome might have some potential as a floor spacer, he shot 33% from three, and 11% of his attempts came from the right side above the break. He could be a wildcard who fits alongside Jojo and one of our other bigs.
For flexibility, we really need a FA 4/5 who can shoot and play defense. Looking at the affordable UFAs at center, it might come down to Bol Bol and Chris Boucher. Want to take another shot at Mo Bamba? Christian Wood?We could have an inside track on Boucher, and he shouldn’t cost much. As for PFs who can pair well with our bigs, the two names I see are Dario Saric and Jake LaRavia. Two guys I’d like to trade for are Jay Huff and Santi Aldama, both fits with our team well.

Lowry needs to retire, if only so he can give VJ back his correct number and he can drop that hideous 77.
always a jump shot away.

He averaged 3.9pts on 17 mins play time. So we can expect <1.95pts in 8.5mins play time.
We have PG as a vet who seems to have the rookies best interests on his mind.
We have Maxey who is young, but, already showing leadership and is a great example of work ethic and great attitude leading to results.
I'd rather convert one of the 2way or exibit 10 players if they prove themselves during the season.
Fair enough. Just listening to Maxey and McCain talk about Lowry. They seem to like him as a mentor. Figured adding VJ and maybe Grimes coming back. They get a vet guard perspective. Lowry seems like he’s always interacting with them when I see Sixers footage outside the lines. But I hear what you’re saying tho.
I hope Eric Gordon doesn’t pick up his option. lol

Just because you want Gordon so much![]()
"Edgecombe has spoken positively about Gordon, noting their existing connection and expressing excitement about being teammates in the NBA. He said, “Man, it means a lot. It’s crazy me and EG are teammates now… [Having] someone I already know on the team, that can help me.” Edgecombe also praised Gordon’s mentorship, stating, “They [Gordon and Buddy Hield] helped me so much,” and highlighted Gordon’s ability to teach him about longevity and role-playing. While Edgecombe playfully teased Gordon about his age (“EG is old, man. I tell him all the time, he’s old, man”), this was framed as friendly banter, suggesting a comfortable rapport. The sources describe their relationship as “solid” and valuable for Edgecombe’s transition to the NBA, with no indications of tension or conflict. Their shared Bahamian connection (Gordon through his mother’s heritage) likely strengthens this bond."
Edgecombe's mentor.

This real?
To me, Yabusele is more important to resign (given how our team is constructed) than Grimes.
