Your #4 overall pick, ladies and gentlemen.

Higher expectations than last year’s #6 overall pick, of course, which were effectively “don’t trip over your own feet” and “don’t score on your own basket”. Progress!

 hey he is already outperforming a comparablish pick in Frank Kaminsky who was supposed to be a culture and locker room guy but was a pouty little baby day 1.

Did anyone ever consider Frank as being a culture and locker room guy? I never got that impression of him leading up to the draft that he was being considered for that reason. He always struck me as kind of an arrogant prick and that was certainly on display when he talked to s*** about the Hornets leading up to the draft process.

I always felt that that was more just desperation of the Hornets never-ending search for a stretch 5, especially after Cody showed that he really was not an outside shooter at all, despite those amazing empty gym workouts.

Kon is a better defender than Tre. The gap may close eventually but Tre’s defense at Texas was dreadful. Better lateral quickness doesn’t matter if you’re constantly missing assignments, losing your man, giving half effort. Kon isn’t anywhere close to elite, but he will be better than Melo, and might be a bit better than Miller, unless those guys improve a lot this offseason.

Tre can improve, as all these guys can, and probably will. But so can Kon in his own way. He was asked about where he wants to improve. He mentioned getting the most out of his physical abilities on defense. A couple of analysts commented that his defense was not bad, was actually really good, while acknowledging his athletic limits. They said he learns so quickly, never makes the same mistake twice in a game, focused and intense, max effort, fierce competitor.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Working hard at D play after play is every bit as important as making occasional big stops. Denial, positioning and pestering is half the battle.

Watched the full game of Knueppel vs GT in ACC Tourney this morning and it was pretty underwhelming.

He had 17 pts with 2 minutes to go- only 1 of his FTA came in the first 38 minutes of the game. Which to me is a very solid game, he had a few nice drives to the basket earlier in the game. However..
Then GT intentionally fouled the final minute of the game and Kon shot 11/12 from the FT line to finish with 28 pts and it made it appear like some huge game.

Passing was good at times, but he also could have very easily had 4 turnovers as he was really sloppy passing. It was mostly spamming the same Maluach lob play over as GT was a tiny team that had nobody close to contesting Khaman at rim. Their center is 6-9, Maluach is 7-2. Isiah Evans honestly felt like he swung the game more to me as he had 14 pts in 17 minutes and hit a bunch of timely threes.

Overall, wasn't really all that much of a selling point for me, but to each their own.

Is the game on YouTube? Curious how you were able to watch it, I'd like to as well. Don't think I watched a full Duke game last season.

The biggest lie about Kon is that he “stepped up” with Flagg out. The only thing which stepped up was his turnovers. Everything else was pretty much exactly in line with his season averages and general usage. And that’s not a bad thing, it shows that even with extra defensive attention he’s going to get his, but this is not some hidden primary creator. He’s a 3rd option.

Both Peterson and Lee referenced the ACC tournament as a "data point".

Sad, they have to run a media brief and rehearse talking points before the cameras turn on. Tacky for both to use the exact same phrase.
