I can’t believe I just thought of this, but a really good comp for Dylan Harper is John Wall, similar size, ability to get to the rim, good defense, and a jumper that’s questionable but not broken.

But the rim pressure comes from a different place. Wall was special-fast with the ball and with his first step. Harper has a special handle, but is not anywhere near that level of athlete, vertically or in terms of speed. Good first step tho, just not Wall.

Of course, no two players are exactly alike. Harper might not be as athletic as Wall, but he’s just as effective in some of the areas where Wall’s athleticism gave him an edge, like getting to the rim and good defense. Ultimately, it’s Wall’s inability to develop a reliable perimeter shot that has limited his ceiling.

Gil's best weapon was his 3 point shot, not exactly a Harper specialty. If he develops one, he could be a very good NBA player. Wall was a classic push the ball then drive and dish guy with amazing speed. I'd say Ricky Rubio is probably a better comp for Harper with the handles, shaky outside shot, change of speed moves, and such. Harper's defense isn't at that level but then he's already a better finisher than Rubio ever was.

I don’t see any of those guys at all. He plays the slashing combo role way more like Tyreke Evans or other bigger guards who want to attack downhill in the halfcourt and pick and rolls. I see like no similarities in playstyle to Rubio.

Gil was one of the fastest players when he played.

Dlo is held back mentally. He has no work ethic or passion for the game.

Simply repeating weird comparisons doesn't lend them any more credibility.
