Well..... Its unless they won't plan on him only doing 15 min again..... And there were reasons for it last year.... Like not being quite in shape due to the added weight that they all agreed to have put on. Hopefully his conditioning and confidence is renewed and he can have the best season of his life. The whole team has a downer year shooting.... But you really can't deny the effect JI has on the court. If something great comes along and he's needed to be added to make it happen ... Then as I've said... "Thank you for your service"...but I don't think they are actively trying to get him off the team.

It doesn't take an entire season to get in shape. More like a month for most. Sure, he is effective in those limited minutes and would like to keep him and like the team as is, but if the team is trying to get under the Cap and move one of the least used players in Slim and Jett, I am all for it if the return is decent and we get under the apron for the future. WCJ, Houstan, TDS or Moe can spot minutes at backup PF if needed then get a vet minimum or low paying PF as a 3rd stringer 5-15 mpg player.

ORL sends: Goga Bitadze, Jett Howard
CHI sends: Lonzo Ball, 2 srps

Lonzo obviously has a significant injury history, but even in limited minutes (Isaac-style) he could bring exactly what ORL needs off the bench - at a reasonable cost of acquisition. He's also a TO for next season, so the risk is mitigated...in this version, ORL even sends out extra guaranteed salary. Perhaps CHI also wants a swing at a young shooting prospect that has only one guaranteed year. Jett hasn't found his footing in ORL, but I think he's a decent bet for a team with a slot and a little bit of cap to burn for a year. Vuc is expiring, but regardless of what they do at C, Goga is a solid rotation C on a good deal.

ORL backfills at C with a heady vet min big like Mason Plumlee, etc

Lonzo is like a much better defending Jingles...he's a big guard with elite court vision, takes most of his shots from 3 and just puts his teammates in the best position to succeed. Even just a year around him would be good for all of our guards - again, Jingles-like BBIQ spreading thru the roster by osmosis.

Uggh...I've got Lavar Ball ability to speak it into existence - just the wrong way.

Good trade for CLE...Ball is tough on both ends. Okoro is pretty useless offensively and, imo, overrated on D. I think he's one of those situations you see where the guy is inept offensively, so he gets a little EXTRA assumption of elite defense. Not trying to start anything but AB sometimes gets that nod too. Okoro (and even more so, AB) is an excellent defender-but nobody seems to remember him when the voting starts.

Obviously, Ball is a missed-time risk, but such is life in the big city.

I really assumed the Bulls extended Lonzo to keep him after all the rehabbing they've been through.

Lonzo is good if healthy, who knows with that. Cavs were done with Okoro so it is a good risk, plus they save money too I believe.

This only saves the Cavs $1M this upcoming season, so they’re still $11-ish million over the 2nd apron and that’s before they do anything with Jerome or Merrill.

Where it helps them more is 26-27 when Lonzo has a team option and Okoro was fully GTD for 26-27.

So they escape Okoro’s money by a year and Lonzo (when healthy, a big caveat) is a better player and fit for the Cavs.

The Cavs won't replicate the record they had last season. They were very healthy, and many of the games missed was for rest. They'll have less depth and more injuries.

A potential wrinkle for the Magic is that the Bulls will likely resign Tre Jones now with Lonzo gone.

Not sure he was actually a target, but you can probably cross him off.

If we’re able to really hit it out the park with free agency, I wouldn’t mind this.

Assuming Mo is retained and we only use the NT-MLE

Sign Spencer Dinwiddie

Sign Larry Nance Jr. or Prince

Suggs/Dinwiddie/Richardson 1/2
Bane/Powell/Richardson 2/2
Wagner/Black/TDS
Banchero/Nance/Panda
Carter/Bitazde/Wagner

This is a very very solid team.

Is this serious? Why would Powells value be that low? Am I missing something, wasn't he in consideration to be an all star this year?

He’s 32, an expiring and they need defense.

They also acquired Bogdan that does a lot of the same things Norman does.

Eh, with Weltman himself stating they're taking calls on Black, Da Silva, Goga, Carter Jr., and Issac it wouldn't surprise me that they tried to trade him and are still trying to trade him now.

Everyone outside of Paolo, Franz, and Suggs were really made available.

The entire roster is untouchable to cedric. Every Magic player is amazing until they no longer wear the jersey.

Sorry, I just posted the first link via Magic Daily, but the entire first page of Google says this, thus I take that unless you can find an opposing source. I am waiting.

The final thing needed for Weltmans great awakening this summer is moving Isaac for a table setter imo. He sees this team as a contender, this team is getting paid like contenders, and now you've got to go get the final piece which is a point guard that can come off the bench and be on the court in the most important stretches of games.

I don't think Weltmans is done, personally. He's seen the light on what many NBA people and media have been criticizing him on for years now. He can't be blind to this glaring need either.
