That's a big commitment but also should be a very tradable contract if opportunities arise.

Not bad for an UDFA that came in and worked his butt off on his body and shooting. Good for you, Naz.

I updated the Capology thread for any interested.

If Randle leaves we will have the full MLE to use and still be slightly under the tax.
If Randle opts in we will be about 5 million under the 2nd apron but well over the 1st apron and about 14 million over the luxury tax line.

We really need him to up his game. With this signing, our future is Ant, JMcD, Naz, and Dilly. All three needs to take their game to the next level. One needs to be close to all star level especially with scoring.

Don't forget TSJ and Beringer in that future.

With the cap continuing to rise there's a good shot we look back on this deal in a couple years calling it a steal.

Yes, TSJ seems to gotten ahead of Clark now. He will take the NAW minutes. If Randle is not back, we will need another big until Marie Antoinette turn into Joan of Arc.

It's not a bad contract. Glad to see him get his bag. Really comes down to what we do for the rest of the off-season.

Completely fair. Should be a great contract in a few years. Get rid of Randle, and give reins to naz to improve.

Can Naz improve simply by getting more starting experience?

Not being forced to be the c next to Randle absolutely. Those 2 together is a disaster.. Age-wise he is also nearing his prime.

I've said this before, against most lineups he is the sf, and jaden plays pf.

I feel like I have misunderstood Beringer fit next to Naz Reid. What if Joan is closer to Vando as high energy mobile bigman, than to classic drop bigman Gobert? I have never thought about it, but in this case Reid-Beringer fit is intriguing

From the limited footage of Beringer, he is definitely more Vando/Lively than Gobert. Seems to be more fluid and quicker. I think Naz really just need to up his game to the next level with the new contract. At times it feels like he could, so maybe just need more consistency on the good side.

If he plays in 86% of games through the life of his new contract (average of 71 games per season), Naz Reid will finish the contract in second in Timberwolves franchise history in career games played.

When I think about FO trying to low ball their own players, I remember how Myles Turner situation has ended up: I mean not new Turner contract, but how weird and miserable comments from both sides sound.
