Re: Simons Says Charlotte?
I like the concept. BOS right now is about $17M over the tax this year and $30M under it next year. Breaking Simons' deal down to essentially the same money but evening out those 2 years is perfect.
Might ne tough here though. Green is coming off surgery and BOS already probably only carries 14 players to save money and one of them is Tatum out for the year or at least most of it. So another guy potentially injured to start the year is tough.
Also, by OP's explanation the Okogie/2nd part is a wash. In terms of value to BOS it's essentially straight Simons-Green swap and it's the same total $$$ for a worse player there. It makes sense for BOS's cap sheet per what I said above, but generally I think better, healthier expiring player would be worth a little more than a less good, injured, multi year contract.
I do think it makes sense for BOS to duck the tax this year (and next) to reset their repeater rates and be bale to stretch their payroll further in the Tatum remaining prime/healthier years. They might not have tons of options to do that. So this is worth considering.

Re: Simons Says Charlotte?
Charlotte getting off long term money for free and the best player in the deal by far does not make up the tax savings, gotta imagine Boston could do better

Re: Simons Says Charlotte?
It does feel like at least part of the motivation for BOS in this deal was to have someone soak up usage and add scoring punch to try to offset Tatum's absence. Simons is perfect for that role.

I'm dumb, and I was trying to think who is named Green on the Celtics. I was like there is a White and a Brown?

I know Boston may be looking to move Simons. If they do I’d hope they could do a little better.

Recent article on the RealGM wire reporting Celtics want to get under the tax by flipping Simons inspired this proposal.
It's as seamless as finding a TPE for Okogie.
For example, Atlanta.
Easy to add draft capital to cover value.
2027 Pelicans 2nd is here. But Jeff Peterson still has Suns 2029 and 2031 2nd rounders.

Would ATL take Green into their TPE for a couple 2nds? If so, I think there’s a deal here.

Or Okogie for a couple 2nds.
Boston ownership surrendered pick 22 for tax savings.

Re: Simons Says Charlotte?
I had this but with the non-CHA 29 first coming back. BOS needs more incentive for giving up by far the best player here, even given the savings. And it fills their 1st round hole in 2029. Protected top 8 turns into 3 2nds immediately.

Not very realistic, but assuming none of the deals are official.. you could have CLT take Micic into their MLE and then they match Mark+Green+one vet min…

Ah, didn't see that, that makes more sense.

From Boston perspective, I’d rather keep Okagie and share the cost with Charlotte of shipping green to a third team.
Green is a year and about 20 million less overall money than Mann was. It shouldn’t cost a first, but maybe a couple seconds.

I have Porzingis > Simons and KP cost pick 22.
T. Mann was owed more than Josh Green.
Pelicans 2nd + Suns 2029 2nd is competitive so I'd just leave my offer their and challenge Boston to find a trade partner that returns a 1st for Simons while generating tax savings. Boston is a T. Mann margin away from ducking the tax.

Yes, and I have it the same if pushed to a final firm offer. Hornets' goal should be to add a starting SG who can fit Lee's 3-or-die shooting system while adding vet playmaking that's missing from the roster.
Hornets head into the trade deadline with Simons 27 + Nurkic 19 million expiring contracts.

Yeah, we’re in the realm of who negotiates better on the details. Close enough for this board.

We have to make a decision on Okogie soon. So if cut, Micic slides in as the flip piece in this proposal.

My suggestion was just to save Boston more money. Would save Boston about 5 million more and CLT owes value somehow so trying to find it.
If they don’t end up needing to pay to dump Okogie (or Micic) then they get to keep second or two that CLT owes
