Best guard for Gafford

We know Day to Day Davis isn't going anywhere, except on IR for 6 weeks after stepping on a Lego. But if Nico can at least admit Klay was a mistake and trade him for a backup 5, who's the best guard Daniel Gafford could return?

Maybe Coby White if they're willing to attach assets to Gafford.

Gafford + Clarke to Charlotte
Green to Memphis

Memphis cuts enough salary to extend JJJ, eats Greens longer-term salary for expiring in Anthony/Clarke
Charlotte adds a starting caliber Center in Gafford and a high-energy bench-big in Clarke
Dallas gets a stop-gap guard and a bad 1st

That is terrible for Memphis. Pay a 1st and still end up with green

Edit. Charlotte is giving pick. Don’t realgm and drive folks. Still think we will find a step down trade to dump Cole without using a 1st. Much rather have Clarke than Green.

Lakers solve center spot in one swing. Still have Kleber + Vando + pick to do something else

Dallas gets a guard, and a potential younger Klay replacement

Kings get forwards

Dallas isn't giving up botGaff and Naji for Monk, all the while helping LA get Gaff. Not even a consideration

Charlotte is paying the first. And getting stuck with Clarke. Memphis is stuck downgrading 2 year money, but clearing 10~ million this season.

I think Memphis and Dallas owe CLT a 2nd here.

Cole isn’t good, but at least it’s an asset for Dallas.

I can understand not wanting to send Gafford to LA, but I’ll take a half second to defend Sexton. He’s going to be a great 5th starter or sixth man for a competing team at some point soon. The hand of cards he’s been dealt so far has been lottery teams looking to lose. Get him to a team trying to win and I think you’ll see him in an entirely different light. If I were a team looking for a guard he’d be really high on my list.

Forgot to include Milton to sac. But either version makes sense, yours is probably cleaner and lakers keep knecht.

If the goal is to trade Gafford for a guard and Klay for a backup five, why don't we just go with Klay/assets for an upgrade at guard and leave Gaff as great backup 5/ensurance for AD/Lively health?

Klay/Martin/'29 LAL 1st for Quickley?
Klay/'29 LAL 1st for Reaves?
Klay/PJ/'26 swap/'29 LAL 1st/'31 DAL 1st for Herro?
Klay/Martin/'26 swap for Barrett?

If Dallas misses the playoffs, I'm going to refer to Flagg as a losing player.
