The thing I am most looking forward to this year is hopefully implementing a movement offense and getting away from hideous iso and slow offense. That, and hopefully Baylor breaking out. It's a low bar, but I will enjoy it anyway. And who knows, we may surprise people. Also hoping Amari Williams is a diamond in the rough.

Same here, but I also have hope and interest in the other draftees.

Sam Merrill 4 yrs, 38 mil, think that makes Hauser's deal look even better.

This is all coming from Jake Fischer, who reports the $ pressure to move Hauser has eased, but Simons trades are at least being explored.

Hoopshype:

If there is any further trade activity to monitor in Boston, league sources say that Anfernee Simons is a possible re-trade candidate after the Celtics acquired the high-scoring guard from Portland in the Holiday deal. By contrast I haven’t heard any credible buzz about Sam Hauser’s inclusion in serious trade conversations. – via marcstein.substack.com

Celticswire:

"I haven't heard any credible buzz about Sam Hauser's inclusion in serious trade conversations," writes the Stein Line reporter. "The interest would surely be there given Hauser's perimeter prowess and the value contract he holds over the next four years, but the Celtics have largely achieved their financial goals by moving Holiday and Porzingis."

Lot's more upside with him IMO.

Something like Ayo and Huerter for Sam and Simons? picks included somewhere? Bulls have rights to a few Blazer upcoming 1st's.

Well, the Bulls reportedly would love to trade Patrick Williams but there does not seem to be much of market for him.

Maybe Bulls want Anfernee Simons if they are down a guard moving Lonzo and rumored that Ayo Dosunmo is on the move too?

Dallas wants a guard and likes defensive players. Ayo to Dallas, Simons to Dallas and PJ Washington get his starting gig in Boston.

I actually like Simons fine on this year’s team but they don’t have money for a front court at all if they keep him looks like.

Except for Jalen Smith and Buzelis, the players I would want from that team are all free agents, e.g. Huerter. But if you sign and trade for one of them, you are stuck with two more years of guaranteed salary.

I don't know what to think about Josh Giddey. Terrible defender-- maybe even worse that Simons. But he sure can pass the ball.

Built to be more boring? Is that good for an NBA player?

$18M a year for the next 4 years might not be a bargain for Mr. Williams.

He's like John Collins. He looks like he can play but he can't.

Amen to both parts of that.

Dump enough of the Simons/Niang salaries and we can keep all of Hauser, Horford, and Kornet.

What similarities do you note between, say, Isiah Thomas and Antoine Walker?

Why though? I get trading Simons but trading him to re-sign Horford and Kornet to non minimum deals doesn’t make sense to me

If a team is serious about winning titles, you need to use the draft to bolster your team by taking the BEST prospect on the board, not the best prospect who sign for less than 120% of scale or 80% of scale or whatever cheapout ask.

League sources say Boston has been so focused on its accounting that it took an interesting approach with the No. 28 pick.

In considering various prospects to select with that late first-round turn Wednesday night, sources say that the Celtics initially looked for players who would be willing to accept 80% of their rookie scale contract salary, which is the lowest figure first-round picks can be paid.

According the story you're reacting to, the Celtics did what you're saying they should have done.
