Yes, but you are justifying nepo baby as a great owner, when he is the one who is keeping the front office in place. He had no issues letting go of a guy who actually delivered success in a cap league and is in process of completing a rebuild, but still has one of the best records in the NBA during his tenure, just because he happened to be black.

Nepo baby or not, as long as he keeps investing more money into the Jays than any owner has in 30 years, I'm good with him.

And the Raptors have been one of the worst run teams in the NBA over the past 5 years. It's not really a mystery why an owner would not want to keep paying his top executive $15M to keep running that ship.

No they havent. Keep showing everyone what a joke you are. Stick to baseball. You dont appear to know much about that either but at least youll be annoying jays fans not us.

Sorry for disturbing the echo chamber with opinions that don't just involve getting irrationally angry at Ed for not giving Masai a lifetime free pass for 2019.

But let's keep his whole team and give them extensions...yup that makes sense!

The rest of them are undoubtedly making a small fraction of what he did and could be easily removed if necessary under a new potential regime (which may be coming depending on who they hire for the president role). Context is important.

Why even give them extensions if your planning to clean house with new president, rumors are they all got 3 more years. Sure they don't make 15 mill but if you're unhappy with v direction, there is no need to give contract extensions to team your don't particular like direction, even if it's "cheap". It's cheaper to give none, it's not like having gm at this point with a roster that's full and no space is going to hinder us in the short term over the next few months.

Doesn't make sense, clearly they were good with job Bobby is doing, I.e. direction, they just v didn't want to pay masai 15 mil for this direction.

Hell they (ed) didn't want to pay masai that when he won championship..

Your knees must hurt

Does the truth hurt that much?

Your truth is not the truth, it's simply delusion.

An emperor-by-inheritance who stocks the Colosseum still keeps you on the floor. So how are the knees?

The truth is the truth. No decent owner in sports is going to paying an executive $15M a season after what this organization has been doing since 2020.

No amount of deluding yourself about what the Raptors are at this point or what Masai has become will change that.

I would have cleaned house myself (as I am certainly not a fan of the team's direction and I don't know how much Bobby can be separated from Masai on that front), but somebody has to run the team in the interim while you're looking for a long-term president and it's not like any of those extensions will be an impediment going forward. Can't say I have much issue with it.

They extended his entire team - clearly they disagree with you on the state of the franchise. It is you deluding yourself by clinging to a justification that not only was not provided but pretty clearly refuted.

Your king is intimidated by those who earn success and respect through merit. His history is clear. The playbook employed here has been employed by him many times in the past - documented for you to go and read about. The emperor wears no clothes and the delusion is entirely yours.

Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Lessons on delusions that was still defending even Bryan Colangelo on this forum to the bitter end.

Your apologetics for this team's executives after they've reached their expiration date is next level, I'll give you that. Still doesn't change the fact that it's not unreasonable to cease paying an executive $15M a year for what the Raptors have been since 2020.

And the Jays have objectively been a top 5-7 team in baseball since 2020. It is inarguably their greatest run of success overall since the early 90s. FOs generally don’t get fired when they are producing the best results a franchise has had in 3 decades.

Their time is undoubtedly coming soon though and I will relish in it when it does. Has nothing to do with results however.

It is hilarious you keep bringing up Jays and making playoffs, but conveniently choose to ignore that MLB playoffs have been expanded.

Blue Jays have had one of the highest payrolls in MLB, but have not even won a playoff game. Great front office there.

Have never once argued the Jays have a great front office. Quite the contrary actually.

So you dislike the front office but love Ed Rogers as the owner?

You can throw my decade+ old posts as a high schooler in my face all you want. Doesn’t change that fact that you’re either delusional, a shill, or - most likely - a mix of both.

May I recommend knee pads?

I would also suggest that the only one who could be considered shilling here is the one defending an executive to the point of name calling who hasn't done anything good in years and getting irrationally upset about an owner making what could only be considered a completely reasonable decision in the context of what this team is and what Masai was getting paid.

The worst part is, Pelley mentioned getting a "businessman" in the role of president 2-3 times. Not a basketball guy, a businessman. Bobby gets to report to a guy who thinks Flagg is an actual flag.

Nobody is suggesting Masai shouldn't ever get fired or he's irreplaceable.

The problem is with how poorly it was handled, how they had no answers to any of the difficult questions, and the ridiculous timing of it all. But all this isn't surprising given the history of the nepo baby owner.

The basketball guys handle the release of a 10 day contract player better and with more dignity.

I don't see how it was poorly handled or bad timing at all. Masai clearly asked to be allowed to work through the draft once they agreed on an exit plan and Ed obviously obliged.

As far as the press conference, I haven't watched it but you're never going to get anything of note there from a corporate guy like Pelley covering for his boss. There's really not much to be said anyway. We all know why Masai's gone. It's because of his contract and this organization's lack of performance of late and they're obviously not going to tell the public that out of respect for him.
