Portland - Sac

Post#1 » by LightTheBeam » Sat Jun 28, 2025 6:57 pm

Revisiting this one here

Sabonis, Monk for Ayton, Henderson, Clingan, Murray + 2 1st round picks (discuss which ones?)

Kings pick a direction. They get a young defensive big + a pg who has shown flashes. Flip Demar/JV somewhere and let Ayton/LaVine tank for a top 5 pick.

Core - Scoot, Carter, Keon, Nique, Keegan, Clingan, Maxime

Portland makes another win now move. Sabonis would be a great mentor for Hansen. Portland definitely has enough defense to incorporate Sabonis. This could be a sneaky good team.

Jrue - Sharpe - Camara - Deni - Sabonis
Monk - Thybulle - Grant - Williams - Hansen

I'm not interested in Sabonis at that price

Lol... no thanks... have observed Sacramento and Indiana Pacers try and win with him for some time

No interest in paying the Kings a Kings Ransom for Sabonis

I don't like this for the Blazers. As others have already said, that's way more than I think anyone should be giving up for Domantas.

My impression is this doesn't make sense for where Portland is and, given how incredibly strong the West is, this seems like the completely wrong time to make a win-now move.

I love Sabonis as a player. I think he'd be great in a place like Detroit or Atlanta.

I like Sabonis too, but this just values him like a #1 guy on a contender, which he isn’t.

My interest in Sabonis has only weakened since taking on Jrue’s contract and seemingly going a more defensive identity route. This proposal ups the price from previous proposals. Clingan, Scoot, and 2 1sts feels like a lot.

I think SG is the area Blazers need to work on the most. A vet upgrade to Sharpe would be my goal if we're winning now.
If we're spending assets, i would rather upgrade the offense since that's where we are lacking right now.

Are you saying the package that Portland is giving up values him like a #1 on a contender? If so we must strongly disagree on scoot/Clingan value

Previous suggestions included Portland current lotto pick. This suggestion also includes monk.

Id imagine that new Portland team is a top 6 seed. Value of the picks dropped and adding more here.

I get Portland fans not liking it, but I think the team has an appetite to go win. We will see

I’m saying Sabonis is not worth the package, and not a top guy on a contender.

Previous suggestions I was on board with also didn’t include both Clingan and Scoot. Monk is nice, but also not a strong defender, and we go right back to complicating minutes. I also value future picks more than most because of the flexibility. I’d consider Ayton, Sharpe, and a 1st if we got both Sabonis and Monk. Doubt Kings are on board.
