Having a competent lead guard on the SL and G league team isnt a bad thing either, even if he never makes it as an nba guy. The recent SL teams and the Herd have really suffered from this.
Sears has run successful teams all 3 years at Bama.

Bring back Sims, let Tyler get some run, **** let Beelzebub get some run too, and get whatever other athletic rim running C you can via trade/FA. The "Giannis needs a floor spacing 5 next to him" thing has always been silly to me. Get as athletic as possible and that starts in the front court. If we're gonna win in the low 40s we might as well experiment and see what Giannis can do with some other athletic, defensively mobile dudes next to him.
You would think you'd have learned a lesson the last few years bringing in athletes with few skills.
There's a reason you didn't state bring in athletes AND skilled players. It's because you know they are hard to find and are drafted early or cost too much.
I'm with Vecenie. Bring in guys with basketball skills AND positional size. If they're athletic, great. There aren't many guys like Giannis who are raw athletes and then get the skills after they are drafted.
I never said bring in athletes who are unskilled and suck at basketball - being able to set great screens and roll hard, have decent hands and some touch around the basket, can effectively defend in multiple schemes, ability to make solid reads/decision making as a passer..these are all basketball skills that I value at the 5 frankly more than them being able to hit 3s or post up/face up.
The Bucks problem over the last couple years isn’t that they’re bringing in athletic dudes, it’s that they’re bringing in athletic dudes who suck ass at basketball. Dudes who are athletic and actually have some basketball IQ and some of the skills I noted above exist out there, you just have to find them. Like go find the next Isaiah Hartenstein or Rob Williams (a healthy version at least). I don’t necessarily know who that guy is but that’s Horst’s job, to find that guy early before they’re fully developed and making big money.

i think the real answer is not skilled vs. athletic but team identity and how that dynamic complements our most important player. we need to have a plan and we need to have an identity. now, maybe we are in the middle of a retool and we will attempt to form some kind of identity after all the dust is settled next offseason. certainly, you dont take a guy like Bogi, shooting for the stars, if you have a strict model in mind for the immediate. i think it's more of a signal that we are just trying to hunt down value any way we can.

It’s certainly not out of the realm of possibility. He just needs to make his mark as a hustle, non stop motor guy and the rest will fall in line imo.
He's not that quick to make any kind of impact defending 94'. If he can flat out score, why did he shoot 40% from three floor as a super senior playing in a pro offense surrounded by talent? Why did he shoot 38% from the floor in the combine scrimmages, while playing against a bunch of guys that won't make it in the league?
Sears will be no different than every other undersized PG Horst has wasted a 2 way contract on, and there's been a lot. We don't need chuckers.
I guess we are going to find out really soon if he can shoot or not because at his height he is going to have to be able to shoot at a high % to make it and like I said his height will not be the reason he don’t make it if he is a chucker like you said and misses open shots he has no shot then. But being an all American pg he should have the handles passing to contribute he looked good hitting those 10 3’s

Sure did look good hitting those 10-3s, too bad he followed it up by going 1-7 with 6 points while getting eliminated.

Horst tried to remake the team's identity by bringing in athletes. He said it a number of times after he drafted Marjon, AJJ and AJ Johnson and after he got Kuzma. They all had one other thing in common. They are unskilled at basketball. The hope is that they develop, but that hasn't happened.
Posters who say we need to get players who are both athletic and skilled have no idea how hard that is.
Ironically, the guy they got off the scrap heap, AJ Green, is not athletic, but he is skilled, and he's better than the other athletic guys.
My priority in looking at players:
1) BBall skills
2) BBIQ
3) Positional Size
4) Athleticism
Ideally, you want it all. Kon Kneuppel has the first three, but not the last.He went #4.We'll see if that was the right choice.

Problem seems like we’re a poor organization for developing our players lately. A lot could be the coaching and not the player

Would be a huge blow if Detroit turns their attention to Bobby now after missing out on Naz Reid. It’s 1 thing if he prices himself out of Milwaukee, it’s another if he’s in Detroit of all places. I wouldn’t be very happy about that.

I definitely wouldn't include '31 for this. I think what they'd be trying is Kuz/Pat/2nds. That doesn't get it done in the other direction. If they really want Tyler Smith, Ajax, or Bogo; they can have them, imo. But it still doesn't fly. I just think it's hard to find the sweet spot w/ this 1.
What else do the Heat have, where it would be worth giving up the '31 1st for 1 yr of Wiggins & significantly more flexibility in addition? They're not giving up Ware. So it's like, Jacquez &/or Jovic? Is that good enough? Ought to wait to not take the haircut on Kuz.
Well they did want Dame before. Maybe something built around Wiggins, Duncan Robinson? Maybe something around Kuzma, Pat for Wiggins, Love? Or maybe we really like Jacquez and willing to put the pick out there? Not sure but I think Wiggins would be a good fit here.

In theory, something like Kuzma and Ajax for Wiggins makes sense. But now we have one more roster spot to fill and we take on somewhere around 1M in extra salary.. so that would be kinda stupid.

What's the criteria to put "NBA Insider" in your Twitter bio?

I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Bucks are the Bucks, so of course they would go after Wiggins. He is an upgrade to Kuzma but I would rather them try to swing for Barrett if the price is the same. He is a more well rounded version of Wiggins anyway, just younger.

I doubt AJax is needed. They probably would just want Kuzma to save more salary.

And the 10 3s were against non-NBA level athletes whose coach told them to protect the paint at all costs. The 1-7 was against guys who were all drafted. Not a great sign for his ability to get his shot off in the pros.

Heat will definitely prefer the salary savings. Their owner hard caps them below the tax.
