Kings considered leading suitor for Dennis Schroeder

The Kings, league sources say, are already being described as a likely leading suitor for Detroit’s Dennis Schröder when free agency begins Monday at 6 PM ET. Schröder is expected to command a deal that could start at the full $14.1 million midlevel exception and the Kings — barring a trade that otherwise addresses their need for a playmaker — are expected to be a prime contender to try to sign the 31-year-old away from the Pistons.

All this is sad for me. I spent most of my 20's at the studios. Bernie, Kenny, and Charles have been part of my life for many years. Same with Shaq and Magic. I still see Shaq at times. Spending Christmas Day at the studios with them was a memorable journey.


Warner’s TNT Sports Will Stop Producing Content for NBA’s Cable Network

The days of Warner Bros. Discovery producing shows like “NBA Gametime Live” are coming to an end.

Warner Bros. Discovery will cease making content for NBA TV, the basketball league’s cable network, ending a partnership that has been extant since 2008, and answering one of the last remaining questions about the two parties’ years-long alliance in the wake of the NBA’s decision to move its TV rights to NBCUniversal and Amazon from Warner’s TNT Sports.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports the Trail Blazers and Deandre Ayton are finalizing a contract buyout, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Sunday’s news adds another intriguing option to free agency, which officially opens on Monday at 6 PM Eastern. The Trail Blazers clearly needed to clean up their center rotation as far back as the February trade deadline, but they did not move Ayton or Robert Williams III. The need to move someone increased when Portland selected Yang Hansen with the 16th pick in Wednesday’s NBA Draft. Ayton was limited to 40 games this past season, averaging 14.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.0 three-pointers in 30.2 minutes. With Ayton no longer in Portland’s plans, the biggest fantasy winner is Donovan Clingan, who finished his rookie season as the starting center. www.rotoworld.com

Jazz to buy out Jordan Clarkson
