Giannis’ agent is somewhat interesting.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Did the hawks hire CAA for their search? They ended up hiring someone whos been in the pelicans front office for 15 years so thats reassuring

How would anyone at Rogers even know whether CAA chose good candidates or not? They’re all hockey shills who know nothing about basketball. They got rid of the smartest basketball executive we have - the guy who would have advised them in the first place lol. They have no one they can turn to. Does anyone think any of these Rogers guys have any good NBA connections they can rely on with trust? They’ll probably take whoever CAA throws at them.

I’d rather just let Bobby Webster run this and promote Tozlman become GM at that rate

I suggested this way back in Part 1 of this thread as a way for the organization to mend back the relationship with the fans  Personally I don't care but in this case hiring Casey would mean Bobby/Dan will call all the shots.

Wouldn’t want Casey advising on anything.

How did his front office advisory role work out in Detroit :noway:

Like I said, it’s more about saving face type of move. Unlike most, I’m not even mad Masai is gone but hiring Casey would literally be the role Masai had anyways. Masai pretty much relied on Bobby and Dan over the years anyway (he’s admitted that was his goal as president to give autonomy to them) other than maybe the drafting of Chomche. Bobby even admitted the Kawhi deal was all him bc it was the Spurs assistant GM that came up to Bobby to suggest that specific trade first. Now there could have been decisions that Masai could have overridden like the delay in trading Pascal and not trading Fred. But Casey would simply be a PR move with full autonomy really to Bobby.

These guys are all cooked. Apparently Bobby's extension only runs until the end of the '26-'27 season. Ed is just giving him a trial run to see how well he takes orders.

That barely even counts as an extension lol. That just keeps him on board for 2025-26 without him being a lame duck GM.

Paul Beeston was an accountant originally before joining Jays and worked his way up to President position. He was one of the most successful front office leaders in Toronto sports. He didn't play baseball but learned the business on the job.

If MLSE/Rogers doesn't have decent candidates within, that is an organizational failure. Not debatable. Rogers is a large company and to assume everyone there is incompetent is foolish and naive. Honestly, the various leagues aren't that much different from operations side.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Lines up with Darko. They're essentially giving everyone a year to save their jobs.

I hate to say "I told you so", but I was telling a lot of the anti-Masai stuff to be careful what they wish for with Rogers taking over. this is Scase and Del's worst nightmare come true. Everyone is on the clock and Rogers wants a winner next year.

Webster and the coaching staff are under contract, with extensions that run through the end of the 2026-27 season, according to sources.

That's noted here. That's not the biggest show of faith in the direction of this front office at all, which is a good thing after what we've seen for a while now. Any new president will be able to clean house undoubtedly if necessary.

They were already going to try to win as many games as possible next year judging by literally every move they've made over the past year and the amount of money they're spending on some of these players they've acquired. The rebuild/tank, if you can even call it that, was never going to be an extended one given what Masai/Bobby have done.

It’s clear now. They are going to totally clean house. The current staff will likely only be here until the end of this upcoming season, by which they hope to have the new President in place. Most likely he’ll get rid of these guys and hire new staff for the following season. Darko and coaching staff could also be overhauled.

This wasn't the plan when we started. Both Masai and Darko said the '25 and '26 drafts were important for us to build back up. It now makes sense why they suddenly accelerated - Rogers started calling the shots on the board toward the end of 2024.

I think that might depend on the outcome of this season (I'm reminded of the Jays' 2015 season suddenly when that team became good out of nowhere which forced newly hired Shapiro and AA into a very awkward situation at season's end), but that's exactly the kind of change this franchise has badly needed for a long time now.

Rogers dictated trading for and then extending Poeltl/Quickley and trading for RJ too? That all happened even before Ingram.

Nothing about how this roster has been built over the past few years suggests this "rebuild" was ever gonna be an extended one. They were going to win 40+ games this coming season maybe even without Ingram.

While Pelley went in front of a camera and said the Raptors are in a rebuild. How do you save your job when it’s clearly a rebuild? By breaking it and trading for win now players?

Yeah, we’re cooked lol
