Detroit still remembers game 82 right?

Pistons get: Kyle Kuzma, Patty C, Tyler Smith
Heat get: Tobias Harris
Bucks get: Andrew Wiggins, Simone Fontecchio, Marcus Sasser

Heat get an expiring stopgap replacement for Wiggins. Pistons get all the stars off game 82, while moving out 2 reserves that fell out of favor last year

I think Wiggins would be a good target particularly with the assumption that Dame will come back looking good. Our team would be more conventional, but Wiggins would be a good third option beside those two.

Ajax isn’t a roster spot. He’s terrible.

Dame will be 35 going on 36 coming off a torn Achilles. You almost have to write him off as a lost cause and anything you get out of him is a bonus. Expectations are absolute zero right now. I hope we aren’t doing any form of roster building around him.

he only makes 2.2M this year so he's probably on the roster.

Can’t imagine he makes the team. Doc rightfully glued him to the bench after the All Star Break when we couldn’t get anything for him in a trade. Ajax agent should start contacting teams in Europe.

Dame's injury is probably complete devastation to him as a player but Bradley Beal's no trade clause preventing us from using 1/3 of our available salary in trades if needed would be nasty work.

Could Beal have a 180 resurrection year and opt out looking for 1 last long term pay out? I’d say that’d be advantageous for both parties, best case scenario Beals game translates better in the 2 man with Giannis than Dame did and the Bucks get an all star year from a former all star. If you’re looking for a resurrection year next year from Dame, it’s not that out of pocket to try with Beal in the same role this year is it?

I’m bored and just playing devils advocate but I don’t hate the thought of the best possible outcome imaginable. That would certainly be it.

Does the NTC have more ramifications how it affects the cap or is it just Beal gets final yay or nay?

Giannis/GTJ/AJ lineup without Dame had a +24.9 net rating in 253 minutes. Retaining GTJ long term and extending AJ long term should be the #1 priority. We're not doing anything next year but it could still be fun if we lean into those lineups. Giannis with multiple snipers in the lineup is a cheat code.

EDIT: I didn't realize just how crazy it was...among all 3 man lineups with 300+ minutes (this sample is including Dame as well), it's #4 out of 755 total lineups lmao.

KPJ in that lineup makes the numbers even crazier, but I don't think he's back, just a gut feeling. If we can somehow have all 3 guards locked up long term, I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I think KPJ, GTJ, AJ and Bobby are important to maintain.

I feel like ive been one of the few leading the charge to keep brook, but if he is going to cost real money, im fine letting him walk. Would be funny for him to go back to LA after we swooped in many moons ago and took him out of there.

Are there any centers out there that could compete with Sims?

I’d imagine one idea is to just use the TPE to potentially find someone. I think Frank mentioned Nick Richards would work for that on LOB.

I actually don't hate Beal the player. I highly doubt he'd be opting out of 57 million for anything though. I just think if he somehow waved it to come here, especially if he was playing well, he's not going to be looking to move to a place of our choosing and that NTC would come into play. At least with Dame he'll probably not be Dame but he'll be a contract that could be used in deals. Granted I think the world of "GIANT EXPIRING GIANT ASSET" days are pretty much a thing of 15 years ago and you usually just wind up with some mediocre guys on horrible deals, or you add a TON to get something of actual worth but I guess I'd value the option of it happening or a miraculous Dame recovery over Beal.

Yeah, the biggest potential value for Dame is if you think his giant expiring plus 26/31/32swap/33 trade next offseason can get you something. But if Dame is cooked, I’m not sure you get something great for that.

Dame for Beal is a good fallback if KPJ and GTJ are too expensive to keep both. So instead you keep KPJ only. Something like:
KPJ/Rollins
Beal/AJG
Wiggins/??? (But AJG eats a lot of those minutes)
Giannis/Smith
Portis/Sims

This works if Heat would do Kuz for Wiggins and KPJ will take the TPMLE with a player option to get a bigger payday next offseason which allows you to give Bobby whatever via bird rights, keep Rollins, keep Sims, then you give AJG a long term extension.

The only party of his game that went backwards was his defense. That was most likely because of a terribly coordinated defense from an absentee coach.

Richards is still a solid backup, but I might not want to spend $5 million on a 3rd stringer. I'd rather pursue Charles Bassey for the minimum.

When you realize how many good lineups we have without Dame, you realize how good we can be next year. Horst needs to pull off 1 steal of a trade, tough for him but possible for other GMs.

Sure, too bad he's not a center, not on our team, and makes $26.5 million.

News today to look out for. Extending the QO to Rollins and Bobby's PO. All should be done by 4 PM today.
