Portland - Denver - Milwaukee
Portland trade: Grant, Thybulle, Williams, 2028 GSW 2nd, 2029 worse of IND/WAS 2nd
Portland receive: MPJ, PatC, Tyson, Nnaji
Denver trade: MPJ, Nnaji, Tyson
Denver receive: Kuzma, Thybulle, Williams, 2028 GSW 2nd, 2029 worse of IND/WAS 2nd
Milwaukee trade: Kuzma, PatC
Milwaukee receive: Grant
Why for Portland: get out of most of Grant's money in 3rd year and get a better PF to help win now
Why for Denver: get couple defensive specialists if healthy and save money next year. See if Kuzma can be rehabbed next to Jokic
Why for Milwaukee: upgrade on court
Portland receive: MPJ, PatC, Tyson, Nnaji

Again, I think Denver is better off dealing directly with Portland.
MPJ and Strawther for Williams, Thybulle, and Avdija.
Jokic / Williams
Gordon / ???
Avdija / Watson
Braun / Thybulle
Murray / ???

Swapping Kuzma for Avdija, without getting off Grant, and being like "yep that works" is wild

Portland is working on a $105 million/4 extension for Deni which is solid, value extension. He is not going to be
moved

Williams and Thybulle's trade value is pretty low given they missed most of the season last year. I'm not sure what you expect that those guys to fetch Portland. (I'm not saying Portland should, therefore, make this proposed deal.)
MPJ only has 1 year left beyond this one. He'll be 29 when his contract expires and could be retained on a much more appropriate deal, around $25M/year like Tobias Harris got from Detroit. Or he could be a valuable expiring next year.
Avdija had a great season and is on one of the best contracts in the NBA. Not sure Portland wants to trade him at all, but this is the guy Denver would ostensibly be after. If Portland didn't want to deal Avdija (or didn't think MPJ, Strawther, and/or Denver's 2031 was enough compensation), perhaps the deal could be for Holiday:
MPJ and Strawther (or 2031 1st?) for Holiday, Williams, and Thybulle.

I don't think Grant is enough of an upgrade for Milwaukee to take on the extra salary.
I like it for Denver because they get much deeper, but they're taking a risk on injury-prone guys (Williams and Grant). I wouldn't take on Grant. I'd insist on Avdija or Holiday if I were Denver.
I wouldn't want Nnaji if I were Portland. Getting out of Grant's deal and replacing him with a better player in Porter Jr seems like panacea, especially when it only costs them an injury-prone center, a backup guard, and minimal draft capital.

It wasn’t close. As somebody else said. Wild. MPJ is a negative value contract.

Cut Denver out. Kuzma/PatC for Grant. Deal doesn’t change for Bucks. Blazers save way more money than taking on MPJ and Nnaji. I don’t like Kuzma, but the savings are worth it.

I think that defeats the purpose of trading for holiday though? They seem like they want to make the playin/offs and grant is better than Kuzma in that regard.

Sure, but so was drafting Yang. Some moves have to look beyond the year. I believe Holiday was brought in to start and mentor. Grant is being paid a ton to (if there is justice in the world) come off the bench, and is not known for his mentorship (I don’t think MPJ would be much of a mentor as well).
Grant/Thy/Rob
56.8… 34.2… 36.4
MPJ/Nnaji/PatC/Tyson
57.4… 48.3
Kuzma/PatC (plus not trading Rob/Thy)
56.6… 20.3
So the first year is negligible contract wise. The MOJ route costs $28M extra the following year. I would hope Cronin and crew could do something useful with that extra money. Plus Blazers keep their 2nds in this scenario.

Absolutely no chance that Advdija would be delt for MPJ

With Avdija and Camara -> Grant's future role in Portland is as a 7th man off the bench. He has 'seniority' as the oldest Blazer and longest tenured.
Moving him even for a lesser player would be good for team chemistry.... I don't like Kuzma, but he'd do and fit off the bench for a few months until another trade could be found

Zero interest for POR.
Avdija is a better player and a much better contract than MPJ.
Switch Grant for Avdija.

I'm pretty anti adding post 2027 salary, especially for someone like Jerami Grant who I don't think is very good.

Terrible for the Nuggets, amazing for POR...
MPJ is a 25+/yr player, paid 38, he's in the beginning of his prime.
Grant is an MLE player, paid 34, and is in the downhill.
Kuzma is a non shooter, Nuggets lack shooting even with MPJ.
I think Kuzma/PatC for Grant has legs, though POR should pay for the salary relief.
Defense wins draft lotteries!

That's fine, but Portland is going to have to take some bad contracts back (as they did in acquiring Holiday) if they're offering 2 chronically injured players (Williams and Grant), especially Grant given his contract.
And MPJ -- the best player in any of these deals -- has played 77-81-62 games the last 3 seasons. Since 2021-2022, Grant has only played in more than 50 games in 1 season (63), which was his 1st season with the Blazers. (Robert Williams has played 61 games total the last 3 seasons. He's worth 0 on his own in a trade.)
