Nick Wright said in his podcast that he has it on good authority that the Lakers are going to make a significant move in the next week or two that moves the needle and has them among the shortlist of contenders next year. Didn’t go into any more specifics than that. I guess we’ll see

With it being the offseason, I need to re-calibrate my brain here... because some of these posts I can't tell if people are posting in good faith or trolling.

Issue was Nichols was being moved off the nba side because she was plowed by Jimmy Butler in the bubble.

Also, nba at espn is trying to diversify its hosts. They really wanted a black woman as the host, and they really lean into the cultural aspect of nba as hip hop league.

It's bizarre their editorial strategy out there, but Nichols wasn't having any of it and called them out.

Lenny Wilkens became the first person to have a statue unveiled outside Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle today.

CPA is also the future home of the Sonics, for those wondering!

Looks like Lakers signed Reaves to extra 2 years, he only had 1 year left and now it says 3 years $13m?

DFS looks like his been signed over night 3 years $15m
Maxi = 3 years $11m.

Even giving Milton 4 years contract? whole team looks like they have new deals?

What are you talking about?

Maxi is an expiring $11 million.

DFS has a $15 million player option.

Reeves has a 1+1 deal and reportedly just turned down a max extension.

unless they've just signed new deals? I'm as confused as you're lol, it has it on spotrac under their names.

Where it says that? What you mentioned is the original length of their last/current contract. Even for DFS it makes sense, as once he declined his PO it went from a 3yo to a 2yo contract (or from 4 to 3, IIRC).
Reaves just declined contract extension (due to not having full Bird rights, Lakers couldn't offer more than his current salary X some percentage (125%? 150%? don't remember exactly), so I guess both sides are going into RFA next summer.
Nobody pays Milton or Maxi more than a minimum on their next contract, if they even get one in the NBA

The only team I could see trading for him now would be the LA Clippers with something like Bogdanovic, Kris Dunn and Kobe Brown. Otherwise, I'm not seeing where he fits with anyone. He could start in LA next to Harden and Kawhi and put Norm Powell back on the bench.

Raptors may just be stuck with RJ.

Edit: One more. Portland and Charlotte trading with each other. Rob Williams (just for another big, Portland doesn't need him) for Okogie and Daquan Jeffries, who probably get waived because there are no minutes for either guy in Portland.

Sixers would love to get RJ (plus whatever) for Paul George

You think Raps would do that though? He makes like double RJ does.

Not unless they're even dumber than we expect them to be. That would be a horrible move for Toronto.

What do you think Brooklyn Nets reqular season over under betting line will be? I am looking at that, they will have to be the worst team, right?

Wizards motivation to suck is very high. Top 8 pick high.

I would say Nets are worse. They probably starting Egor or Traoré as their point guard, and they are starting Cam Thomas and MPjr. Thats pretty brutal.

So Milwaukee essentially has declined off from their contending core; attempt to rebuild that (since Lillard came); and now, are "all good" because they got Myles Turner (and retained Portis)..

Their core has no top-level offensive player, and Turner/Giannis are the only impact defenders. Kuzma needs to play like his Lakers and early Wizards days, which probably isn't happening much anymore.

I don't expect Giannis to really feel good about the Bucks contending till they make more moves. They ain't even close to contending, even in the East. Be out in R1 again, or play in, at best.

I don't think Brooklyn is trying to make the playoffs, but I also am not sure if they see a point in being the worst team in the league either. The flattened lottery odds make it weird. Brooklyn could still put together 25-30 wins and end up in the top 4 with lottery luck. After the last two years with Dallas and Atlanta as play-in teams, who the heck knows what will happen in the lottery?

Them intentionally being the worst team and not developing their young guys and then falling to #5 would suck worse. They should be at least be trying to be competitive enough to lose a lot of close games, not absolutely tank 60 of them.

I truly believe that Giannis really likes being in control of an organization. A trade to a "contender" doesn't give him the same cache (especially if that team already has another all-NBA player).
