Even peak Kawhi doesn't really exist unfortunately. He really is a great player when he can play (I think a pretty strong argument for #2 wing of the pbp era with everyone at their best), but he's just so tragically injury prone. Even healthy though, the playmaking for others gap is too big for Kawhi to close with the advantages he does have.

May have actually been at his best with the Clippers when his playmaking has taken a step forward.

What the ****? Teams literally iced their best player to stand 30 feet from the ring and play 4v4 to keep Kahwi the **** away from any offense

Perimeter players hardly win the award. He won it twice, in a row. Once from a team which finished 6th and won it against the best defender in the best team in the league, then against the same guy anchoring a team which won 73 games.

He won the award against a lot of the chatter of "best team should X". He was utterly dominant defender.

At their peak it's LeBron, but saying defense is alike is ridiculous and means you probably didn't want either at their peak.

So why make this thread?

Lebron was top 2 in dpoy voting twice

Kawhi dpoys could have easily gone to draymond

More importantly, Lebron's defenses improve more with him than Kawhi's defenses improve with him.

That peak Kawhi vs Jordan thread has me convinced peak Kawhi is the GOAT. Gotta go Kawhi over LeBron here…

It's important to challenge conventional wisdom. Objectively I don't see much of an argument Jordan was the GOAT, whereas the guy he's being compared to in this thread definitely was IMO.

The Kawhi vs Jordan thread was deleted. Which, if recent history is an indicator, means you're on an outside mod's radar and you' should refrain from making further Jordan threads (or really anything to do with older players).

(Telling you here, since you don't check dms)

Defensively this is a debate I’d prolly even lean Kawhi but overall as players LeBron clears. The offensive gap is just way too big for a negligible defensive gap to overcome

Peak Kawhi destroys LeBron, who isn’t even a top 10 peak player ever. Peak LeBron was a Finals choker bailed out by Ray Allen and unable to anchor a true all time great team like the true GOAT peaks such as prime Jordan.

Also 2014 Finals LeBron got shut down badly mostly by Kawhi. Go back and watch the tape. Very poor and flawed midrange game, inability to shoot, clunky mechanics etc.
