3/27 to 3/36 is the range I'm guessing

i'm going to guess a smaller 1+1 with a player option.

2/16

good money in case he continues to have issues, but leaves flexibility to opt out if he plays well

Why would we give a player option to a guy who's done jack all but be injured for us? If he wants guaranteed money given his injury I'm not giving him the chance to back out if things actually work out. QO, deal with no options or GTFO. He definitely doesn't deserve a PO.

Agreed. If anything, year two should be a team option

Wouldn't a Q.O. and a prove it year make more sense?

He's not very sturdily built

His purple patch lasted 13 games

With 12 players under contract right now- Melo, Miles, Nurkic, Green, Grant, Miller, Tidjane, NSJ, Liam, Kon, Vasa, Diabate.
Charlotte is at 155 million- which is 32 million under the tax line.

Mann, Okogie, Kalbrenner and Sion are most likely other 4 names- (assuming Vasa is waived)

That said, we have plenty of room under tax to sign Tre, I would prefer larger number/shorter years vs signing him cheaper over more years. I prefer the flexibility and gives us an out sooner if back injury comes back around.

I would do 2/24.

Assuming the contract is the exact same, who would you rather sign between Mann and Jerome?

Probably Jerome
I think he fits more of what we need, but the cost is athleticism.
Nsj can hopefully replicate a lot of what mann does.

that is not the case. last season was the first time Jerome played >50 games in a season. Just two years ago, he played 2 games in an entire season. He
has had off and on ankle problems his entire career.

Mann is most likely gone after the Sexton trade.

I think Mann is now more likely to take the Qualifying Offer.

His agent is probably demanding a multiyear deal but with his restricted status and season lost to injury, he won't generate bids. Plus Jerome, NAW and some other healthy guards are getting all the dollars available.

Gonna get Mann cheap for 1 year.

At the very least, this trade gives Charlotte more leverage in the Mann discussion.

The good thing with Tre, is that he is basically free money for the Hornets. We can resign him and still use the full MLE, so it isn't one vs the other.

Indeed, with Sexton in house, nothing more than the QO for Mann, if that. I liked Tre, but as I’ve said many times, back injuries are BAD NEWS. So easy to become chronic, or re-injured. It’s why Mark played so gingerly and did almost zero bac to back games after FINALLY returning. Tre looks good in the recent gym workouts, but one hard foul…
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Sexton is also in last year of his deal, so unless he is signing here long-term the need for a combo guard will still exist in the long-term.

Off-season was going well in terms of adding size. Now they add Sexton and if you keep Mann you’re looking at two 6’3 shooting guards and three if you include NSJ. I just think Mann is surplus to requirements now unless you dump NSJ?

Can they still look at Jerome instead of Mann if the same price as Jerome at least has size and is a PG not another undersized combo?

They can still look at Jerome, but that would be the MLE. Would eliminate that as option for the Center spot.

With Mann, you can still use MLE on Center.
