the first female head coach in the nba can't be under the kind of scrutiny this team will be under next season. better to have that happen somewhere where there is time to grow and in a smaller media market, the coach we hire is expected to make the finals in year 1.

It would be a huge disservice to the first woman NBA coach to be in NY, especially with the expectations of this team

The problem with the Dawn Stanley rumor isn’t she’s a women but an obvious fake candidate. She’s not gonna get the job cuz we’ve seen the criteria they’re looking for and she doesn’t check any of the boxes.

So If you’re keeping score at home raises the number of fake candidates to 5 or 6 depending on how you view their interest in Jason Kidd.

If/when she says, “no, she’s not interested”that will be the 8th candidate they’ve been interested in that doesn’t even want or is allowed to be interviewed for the job. Just making this coaching search look even more like a farce than it already is.

It was sort of implied Nori might get a second one too since they “liked him” but those two were confirmed. I didn't hear a timeline on those interviews but it makes sense if they were sooner than later.

Touché as of right now 8 of the 11 candidates we’ve wanted to speak to have nba head coaching experience and Nori has filled in as head coach. So maybe wanting to interview Dawn Stanley is the start of a new phase of their coaching search but I’ll need more info before jumping to that conclusion.

How is it a farce? It seems like they’re simultaneously interviewing available candidates, asking to interview unavailable coaches, and doing favors (getting coaches paid and getting others like her recognition). Seems like it’s in line with the way they usually operate.

They’re pretty unconventional in a lot of ways they do business. From their reported unorthodox style of trade conversations, to all the nepotism/relationship based hiring/drafting/signings, etc, to their mob style dark room meetings (Austin Rivers) and tactics (sending Randle, Wes, Houston to the arena when Jalen & Donovan were playing in the playoffs). They’re just all around different.
