A team could trade for enough room to take NAW. Sign and trade uses bird rights so all they need is receiving room. Of course this does hard cap them at the first apron (not us, only the team receiving the player,) so that list will be complicated.

Trading Rudy would require the acquisition of another C to help bridge the 2-3 gap before Joan or Rocco are ready to play a serious role on a contender.

I wonder if right now our FO is trying to understand and negotiate how big discount Randle is willing to accept in order to stay with MIN. Reid deal was clearly a top priority.

A team with a TPE bigger than than the MLE can outbid other teams for NAW by doing a sign and trade with us.
That's about the only way we're getting any value out of him in a trade.
Because we can't take any salary back for him in trade if we bring randle back.

If Julius opts out and re-signs at a lower first year salary it could give us enough room to use the taxpayer MLE and still stay under the 2nd apron.
But at this point if he opts out he's probably certain of signing a long term contract here or an agree to sign and trade.

I just don't see why we would trade Rudy, and keep Randle/Naz. Our defense would be horrific.

Our rebounding as well.

I'm a little worried about Rudy's game falling off a cliff soon.
If we trade Rudy we must be counting on Joan and Rocco contributing this year.

Rudy kinda did that already in the playoffs. Outside of two game 5s, he kinda sucked. Rudy not playing any more international basketball will help, but he really did nuke his value.

I agree with your post, but I don't have the heart to +1 a negative post about Rudy. He could still have another good year or two. Nice that he's dropping out of International.

Gobert and Conley had the Wolves highest two-man Net Rating in the playoffs. 246 minutes, +14.0. Net Rating.

Gobert-Randle +10.0
Gobert-McDaniels +10.0
Gobert-Ant +9.7

Eye tests on Rudy never work. Fortunately, front offices also use advanced stats, so I’m confident Rudy still has lots of value.

I knew that and was thinking about it before reading your post, but I watched and he was almost invisible out there and he gave up rebounds that he should have had. If we do trade him we need to get good value or we should just play out the string.

Or, Naz and Randle were so bad defensively when playing together that Rudy was essential defensively. But offensively and for rebounding Rudy was still quite bad. The game usually went to **** when Jaden sat down. Ant carried most of the offensive load, Mike was the only legit PG, and Randle was great except for when he wasn’t. Those playoffs were every bit as bad as they looked for Rudy. But they are also an indictment of the roster construction.

I believe we have deadlines for Garza and Minotts team options today besides just Julius' player option drama.

Then tomorrow is the guarantee date for Leonard Millers contract.

On another thread it was posted we declined Garza and Minott. I'll really miss Garza.

I'm intrigued by Brogdon (assuming that getting a guard will be FA only, not a trade)

been in NBA wastelands after getting traded for Jrue and then Deni, just have to hope you can get 60 games from him

not a "PG", but I think getting a bucket getter that the defense has to worry about is more important than a facilitator type PG like Tyus or Aaron Holiday

Yeah the news comes a full 24 hours after the deadline for Minott passed so it's a bit surprising to hear the news come out now.
More a reflection on our poor local sports reporting than anything.
But it means we can sign two free agents with about 9 million below the 2nd apron to work with so one of those guys can sign for the 5.7 mil taxpayer MLE if Arod and Lore want to pay the extra 10 mil or so in luxury tax that comes with it.
