Ironic in that Washington originally drafted him.

I thought he looked terrible in practically every game I saw him in. The complete opposite of Ajay Mitchell. Not sure what his NBA position is. Good news for Barnhizer.

basically in the Association, he was a player you put in during garbage time and go negative. I'm shocked tbh that Wiz made this move, it helps OKC even with their net loss in picks for him.
From my review - in the GL, he was -- generously OK (and you know me, I'm supportive of players' overall efforts), he has passing skill and a lot to learn in terms of defense and overall offense. However, he does have talent, the question is if he can carve out a role with defense because if that's not happening, it's going to be a tough ask for teams to rely on him. One thing that is positive is his high post work - there's something to be had there. Could see him playing well in EU because they can get by with slower overall speed of Jones' game.
Cheers

Clav, I can tell you just have a good heart man. You really do. The problem I had with Jones is what does he do well? I don't care if he dominates G-Leaguers. He's undersized, he's not an elite athlete like Dort (whose lateral quickness is what truly separates him as a defensive player, not just his strength, motor and length), he can't really finish against NBA athletes, he's not a shooter, he's not a mid-range assassin, he's not a ball handling wizard, he's not a great mover without the ball.
Like I honestly don't know what Presti saw. He must have had a pre-draft workout where he was awesome because I saw a guy in the NBA who I kept wondering why does Daigs even play him. I would have preferred to see Flagler or Ducas or Alex Reese during the regular season over him.

15th man or two way.
Just don’t think he had the right body type or athleticism to work out in the end.

OKC fan here. I don’t really want see our two way on the court last season other than branden carlson, and im generally supportive of giving young players minutes to figure out what is there.
I only wanted Dillon on the court to see if something magically click for him. Not going to happen at OKC anymore.

I loved Dillon Jones coming out by ignoring his complete lack of athleticism

Ultimate F U I'm rich move by Presti, throw 5 2nds to get a 1st rounder, take a look at him for a year, throw another 2 to send him his merry way...

Rare move from Presti to give up on a 1st round draftee after only a year.
But the right move. I’m happy about it. OKC has better uses for the roster spot.

Thought the Wiz had given up a 2nd for him, couldn't see why. And at a position where we are overloaded. Getting paid a 2nd to take him, fine.

Didn't see this coming - though the obvious move for OKC was to move Dieng into somebody's cap space, or perhaps Joe for an asset. But, as others have said, Jones showed nothing. Fail fast. And not ridiculous for Washington to give him another year to see if there's anything there.

Re: Official : OKC / Washington
Winners
OKC- you have an abundance of draft picks, one second round pick to remove a contract isn’t anything to them
Was- get paid a second round pick to take a look at a young player when you’re in full rebuild is a win regardless of what Jones does
Dillon- get experience with a great franchise, win a championship ring, and then go join a team that wants to at least attempt to develop you while they rebuild is a full win (and even if this ages poorly and he’s traded, still a ring and still probably to a team that at least wants to attempt to develop him).

I don’t think this impacts trading Dieng, feels like the same situation to me..
Was of assets for Presti, but he has assets to take fliers. No real loss at all. Much better ways to use a roster spot.

Yeah, if this trade never happened, Washington would have almost surely retained Colby Jones anyhow. So this trade doesn't even cost the Wizards a roster spot or very much cap room. If one views Dillon Jones as roughly equivalent to Colby Jones as a prospect, then this trade is basically a free SRP to Washington.

Yeah I do respect Presti for realizing quickly that Dillon wasn't going to work out in OKC and moving on. Agree with others that I don't think this precludes a Dieng dump either.

Ehh idk that I'd call Dillon a winner here. Washington isn't going to be as invested in developing him (he wasn't their first-round pick, after all) and they've got a lot of guards ahead of him in the rotation (Tre, Bub, AJ Johnson for young guys and CJ, Smart as the vets). Sometimes finding a spot in the league is as much about getting the right opportunity as it is having the talent, and Dillon's had a pretty rough go on that front.

Re: Official : OKC / Washington
Any chance Presti is genuinely interested in getting a look at Colby Jones? He’s a pretty interesting swing for them based on his predraft profile. Definitely surprised he’d give up on Jones that quickly, feels like they could have given him one more year to try and figure it out before absolutely needing to open up another roster spot
