I just think people severely undervalue how even a player like Corey Jospeh changed the system when he played last season.

Schroeder has far less drawbacks than guys like Dlo, Paul, Brogdon, etc if we are comparing situations. Is he ideal? No. But we are past ideal at this point.

Schroeder is ok… but I do this his attitude wears off his welcome to any team. Which I really doubt Weltman is willing to compromise.

Schroder linked to Kings right now
Jerome linked to Hornets/Grizz/Jazz
NAW most linked to Atlanta/Detroit (Magic interest too)

I agree, but to be fair, this only happened because Suggs was out most of the year and AB/Cole was not working out as a starter that well.

The year before we were a 47 win (almost) 4 seed with Suggs being the starter. This year we were a top 3 seed even with injuries with Suggs healthy for 25% of the season.

So there is a direct correlation of Suggs as a starting PG being good for our overall record, where that now also has to reflect is in our team offense improving. I don't think if you replaced Suggs with, say, Tre Jones or Dennis Schroder over the last two seasons the offense would've been top 24 even, and our defense would've been worse. The personnel was just too erratic in general. It would've made for some easier plays for some guys, but open missed shots would still be open missed shots. I think people are woefully misguided that just bringing in a guy slightly better than Suggs as a playmaker would've made massive changes for this team. Cory Joseph looked good in relation to guys like Cole and AB running the team, still way under what Suggs brought.

I do agree that if there was a legit gamechanging all-star guard on the team, then yes, it would look different. Unfortunately those are hard to acquire and would cost quite a bit. We may need it at some point once we figure out who would need to go in that scenario.
AB didn't work out as a starter with KCP but may with Bane. KCP offered no playmaking at all, and Black needs to be with another guard who can create. I also think Suggs could improve with Bane playing with him. Suggs' 3-pt shooting fell apart when Paolo went out, and he had to create his own shots. Now Suggs has Bane, Paolo, and Franz to create him spot up shots.

Schroder seems like he is heading to the Kings for sure. Monday at 6 PM we will know I assume. I am not a Schroder fan.

They could be aggressive for more expensive guys like NAW or Levert, but other than that I kind of just like laying low and waiting for bargains.

Melton, Tre Jones, Gary Payton, Kennard and Trent would interest me in the guys that cost between min and MLE.

Monte Morris, Shamet, Javonte Green, Brogdon, Alec Burks for the more likely min guys that have a chance to help in a pinch.

I’m surprised we haven’t heard about an extension agreement with Paolo.

Yeah, there are definitely some emotions tied to it. I think it just depends on who we are letting them go for. Personally, I do think there are more positions of need atm than prioritizing a 3rd center coming off an ACL injury.

I love what Moe has done for our culture, but the culture is established and in the hands of Suggs/Bane/Franz/PB now, and we have officially transitioned into the contending phase of the rebuild, so it boils down to whatever is going to make us better.

Isaac still brings a valuable skillset to our team, however, his decline was concerning last season. If you look at the numbers, he was seriously impactful in 2023-2024 but arguably had the worst season of his career last year. With all the injuries and him getting a bit older, you just worry if that's signaling further decline going forward. If so, getting off his contract while it still holds value is the move, though I, too, would miss the player.

Dennis Schroder is my go to free agent right now.

I know Tyus Jones is cheap. But I rather have another annoying **** on the team. Schroder can be a pesk on defense.

Damn they must really be taking this all the way to the deadline with Mo and Caleb
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

Yea as far as I know but I think they can have mutually agreed to extend deadline and Magic are just keeping it close to the vest. Not sure if new CBA still allows that.

FWIW Suns fans seem to not like Tyus Jones at all lol. But the structure there was also awful.

The Cavs can only trade one player because they are over the second apron. The player they trade needs to be traded for a player or players with fewer salaries than the one they send out.

So, the Cavs have no way to trade for LeBron.

Weltman probably just rolled out of bed, and he's still getting the buggers out of his eyes.
