Day’Ron Sharpe RFA offer makes way too much sense as our center of the future. I think we’ll do it.

-Jeff drafted him in Brooklyn. This is by far the most important part.

-Young for a 2021 pick, only 23 years old

-high energy, high BBIQ type: good passer with a shockingly high AST% for a big man. Crazy rebounding rate too

-“developing shot” for a center which could possibly fit their 5-out agenda.

-Importantly an NC kid and a Tar Heel.

I love everything about that fit except for the fact that Brooklyn has unlimited cap space and can match whatever we put out there. But don’t know til you try, right?

Plow later says though that he would be shocked if the Hornets signed Jerome for a multitude of reasons. Not sure what those multitude of reasons are other than money.

Who are some other veteran point guards that are gettable either through the mle as a free agent or as a trade Target.

Does nsj I have positive or negative trade value?

If we're signing a backup PG, does that mean Mann isn't coming back?

Starting to struggle with how all these guys are meant to play.

Melo - Other PJ - Mann
Kon - Green - Okogie

Feels like Okogie or Green are moved if we expect to sign another guard. Our defense is going to be terrible.

I thought about him as well.

But of course, he's not free.

And I'm not really sure how we pull it off with Nurkic & Moose here. We would need to first re-home Nurkic. Jusuf cost Phoenix a 1st round pick to move. And of course Sharpe would cost draft capital himself.

Looks like for the Nets not to match they'd want that 2026 1st from the Nurkic trade for taking Nurkic + the 2029 1st from the Mark Williams trade on top of it.

So I think we have Ty Jerome + 2 firsts as the greater value, and we go into the season with Nurkic starting. We pay half his salary this season and revisit his trade value as an expiring contract at the deadline.

With LaMelo and Tre Mann missing so much time last year, I'm assuming we've placed a high priority on Ty Jerome. We can offer him a starting job for 3 years.

Ty Jerome is a better player on offense, and Josh Green doesn't give enough on defense to cover the gap.

I'd go after Looney and Yabusele.

We need some beef to go with our noodles.

Yeah, there has to be more coming. We aren't going to go into the season with Moussa and Kalkbrenner as the only centers on the roster.

5D checkers - we trade Mark knowing the trade will eventually be rescinded in order to temporarily boost the perceived value the Hornet's place on Nurkic in trade. "Danny, he's our only center - you gotta throw in a second."

Sharpe is now a UFA. I like him but Nets undoubtedly keep him.

Michael Scotto: Sources: The Brooklyn Nets declined to tender Day’Ron Sharpe his 1-year, $5.98 million qualifying offer. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent after averaging 7.9 points and 6.6 rebounds in 18.1 minutes per game this season. Brooklyn hopes to re-sign him with cap space flexibility.
