I'm not sure what is out there for them, but i'm not comfortable continuing with both bogdan&norm at SG entering their final years on their contracts.

I like the deal for Cleveland.. Ball boosts their offense and adds size on the wing.
I think Okoro is getting better as a shooter, just not sure how much he'll help the Bulls. Wouldn't mind if he was brought in to LAC.

Re: Off season, free agency, coaching change.
I can't quite explain this unless Nico will sign for less IF there's a no-trade clause. His family is here and he was NOT happy being dealt to the Sixers last time. I was surprised he chose to come back to the Clippers except he loves Ty and wants to be in LA. But he doesn't want to be Blake Griffin-ed a second time.

Bye Bye Ben. My guess is that the Clips closed the door on a return and this is his reaction. Probably for the best. Just too much drama and special handling. On a team with Kawhi Leonard, we don't need any extra weirdness.

Re: Off season, free agency, coaching change.
I’m a bit surprised by the Batum news. Not that I think he’s wanting to leave the Clippers but maybe wants to play more than one more year?
Simmons started off promising but was unplayable in the playoffs and no loss there.
Hopefully it won’t eat into the MLE.

6-10. I'll take anyone with a pulse over 6-7.
14.9 and 7.6 as a rookie. Gotta be less useless than Kobe Brown. And only 8 months older.

Plus/minus per 100 possessions. They were/are all ass. At least Christie and Flowers are only 20. Finish dumping the rest.

Batum will be back.. 95% sure of that.
Not too surprised on Simmons.. I thought he'd be a bit better scoring wise, but playoffs wise can't really play him that much. May be better off going overseas, play in the NBL Aussie league.. not as a shot to him, just where he probably would be best served to have a solid end half to his playing career.. I hope he can fit in somewhere in the NBA, but I doubt it as he has been.
Bagley III.. actually would probably be a decent pick up and help up front. I don't know too much about his game.. but know he has begun to carve out a decent career as an agile utility combo big. Would probably help fill some gaps the team has.

There was no reason to sign him in the first place. They act like Ty Lue is a washed buyout whisperer. So tiring and unnecessary, but typical Clipper M.O.

Respectfully, it might be time to let Batum walk. He was out of gas in the playoffs just like Harden. And I think our 1st rounder Yanic will be much better than anything Bagley can muster up on the team.

In the case Batum did run out of gas, it was basically after Game 6, and so were a handful of others on the team from what it appeared. If anything Batum is back, and has a similar role as this past year but less workload in the playoffs with.
Batum was a big SF for most of his career who could play PF when going small, then latter half of his career (most especially with Clippers first stint in 20-21), he began to play more as a "big", but he's still undersized mass-wise against true big men. Moreso its because of his decreased agility from earlier in his career, so he slotted to big spot more.
Him defending Jokic over the course of a game, really shouldn't be happening on any team, unless its all a team has for some reason (when Zubac wasn't on Jokic) -- and that's what the situation was.. because again, the team didn't get a solid true big at PF, or have a decent option at backup C.. Batum bascially played both apart from whatever other wing was playing PF on the roster.. Kawhi, Harden, DJJ, etc. It was a flaw with the team I worried about all season, and last summer.. and it showed up glaringly enough in this series. As a result of the unbalanced frontcourt defense with Jokic matchups, that took more typical assignments away against Aaron Gordon.
None of those guys should be playing at a big spot apart from stretches, or if a line up just works that was went with from a match up decision.
Batum's 6'8" 225-230, very undersized against a pure big center like Jokic. His wingspan helps a lot, for sure. Being the second option on Jokic defensively played a part in putting extra load on Batum.
Also if the team doesn't play Denver where Batum had to defend Jokic a lot, things may go better for Batum energy wise.
This is why the team must balance out the roster over the next 7 months.
---
Sounds good on Yanic, looking forward that he can get in the rotation.

I hear you, but let's run the numbers.
Batum gave us 1367 DESPERATELY needed minutes @ $5M for the year.
Coffey gave us 1748 DESPERATELY needed minutes @ $4M for the year.
Neither should have been playing at all but Nico was FAR superior to Amir.
Batum: PLUS+5.7
Coffey: Minus-1.8
Run the numbers yourself. We need MINUTES. And frankly, Amir didn't hurt us that much. I'm not down on him at all, in fact Amir's maybe the most unappreciated Clipper in history.

Re: Off season, free agency, coaching change.
In an ideal world, Batum would be our Udonis Haslem, someone who's mostly there to be a veteran presence for younger players to learn from. It's yet another sign of the front office's failure that we're deeply reliant on him for rotation minutes like he's 26, not 36. Frankly, anything we're still getting from him on the court is a bonus.

It never made any sense to dump guys like Kennard and Mann at rock-bottom value because they were too timid on offense and then sign Ben Simmons of all players. Frank and Lue have no idea what they're doing.

Re: Off season, free agency, coaching change.
I’m down with giving Batum a $6 million deal. He’ll give us 1200 quality minutes. He’s played in over 85% of the team’s games in the last 5 years. He’s a glue guy. He’s a clubhouse leader. Honestly, he’s a bargain if we can get him for that.
Against holding on to Simmons for some of the same reasons. Don’t know how much he can/will play. A lot of trouble and distractions with him. There may be a team that would accept him warts and all, but I’m glad it’s not us. It was worth a try.
If we could get a decent 20 minute per game PF/C (mainly a four), we’d be cooking. A player I’ve mentioned before that’s a FA this year is Trey Lyles. He’s another guy to look at as a mid-rotation, or even 20 mpg starting, 4/5. Zach Lowe says we’ll be going after Ty Jerome, which would be fine … in the sense that it makes/confirms Bogie is on the block. Could be an interesting offseason.

Mann was actually dumped because of his contract, he has 3 years / $47 million. Bogdanovic has 2 years / $32 million, but his second year is a team option.
The team essentially gets out of two more years of contract. While there's also some different ability related reasons, the primary reason is what everyone is managing, which are those aprons.
The Kennard trade was a similar thing, these are roster management moves that the new apron rules force teams to make earlier/more often than they would have in the past. Guys like Mann and Kennard are stabilizing players, but not needle movers, these are the guys who do get moved in these situations. Eric Gordon was expiring and brought a somewhat similar skillset.
It's hard to justify paying $100 million in tax for a $15 million guy multiple seasons in a row.
If we think it's all about basketball ability and skills, we're missing the forest for the trees. Salary moves do have to be made.

People forget just how good Ben Simmons was before he went mental. 3-time All-Star, 2X FIRST TEAM All-Defense, even finished 2nd for DPOY once. Career averages 13.1/7.4/7.2 and 1.5 steals. 6'10" and he was still only 28. Of course it was worth a shot.
