I’m lukewarm on Trent Jr.
He’s a good shooter albeit streaky. He just isn’t providing much value anywhere else on the floor as opposed to someone like NAW in my opinion

Also, with how expensive our starters are, we're going to have to adjust to what level bench guys we can realistically get moving forward unless we get some good deals on them. Look at the Knicks and who they were forced to play last year lol.

I mean everything being equal, I'm sure the Magic would prefer NAW too. So would I.
But I'm working under the guise that NAW will now be getting more than the full MLE, likely from Detroit in the wake of the Beasley gambling fiasco.

I thought Trent was higher. 17.1 isn't too bad.Knightro wrote:basketballRob wrote:I think we're looking for a lower usage player.

Re: Official 2025-2026 Magic Trade ideas thread
I would rather have Dwight (or RoLo or Plumlee...) at $3m than Goga at $8m+
not knocking Goga, just think we've got too much $$ committed to C spot...when, ideally, your 3rd string C doesn't really get minutes on a lot of nights.
Plus...the shooting
It's pretty clear BRK isn't going all in this summer with a ton of cap space...would they consider taking a recent lottery pick with
-a high, repeatable, lightning-quick release from 3
-a short history of being horribly mismanaged by ORL's FO
-no guaranteed money beyond next season
-great scoring stats from his time in the G-League
-a father on the BRK coaching staff
...OK, there's $10m+ off the books
Problem is, we don't have any picks to sweeten the pot for BRK ...maybe they'd like Jett and Goga for themselves...send back 3 srps on principle

Latest from Marc Stein...
Sources say that the Orlando Magic are among the teams to express interest in Tyus Jones, who played alongside new Magic marquee acquisition Desmond Bane for three seasons in Memphis. Bane posted on Twitter in April 2024 that "doors [are] always open" for a reunification with Jones.

Tyus Jones has been the most speculated player over the past 2 years. I think the interest may have been before Richardson.Knightro wrote:Latest from Marc Stein...

Sexton traded for Nurkic & a 2031 2nd rounder
Just another example of how him & Simons were on the trade market for so long because they couldnt get a 1st for them on the market.

Re: Official 2025-2026 Magic Trade ideas thread
Good News...it came to me in a dream...got it all figured out
Out of left field, but don't be scaredy cats:
#1
GSW SnT: Jonathan Kuminga ( $60m over 3yrs - $22m, 20m, 18m)
ORL sends: Jonathan Isaac, Jett Howard ($20.5 combined)
#2
ORL sends: Wendell Carter ($10.9), Goga Bitadze ($8.3m)
ORL gets: Daniel Gafford, Drew Timme ($16.4m combined)
BRK sends: Drew Timme ($2m), Cameron Johnson ($21.1m)
BRK gets: PJ Washington, Goga Bitadze, Max Christie
DAL sends: Gafford (14.4m), PJ Washington (14.1m), Max Christie ($7.7m)
DAL gets: Cameron Johnson, Wendell Carter
Decline & Re-up Moe at $8m x 2 + 1 TO, decline Houstan, CoJo & Gary Harris, Sign Dante Exum with TPMLE (appx $5m)
Gafford, (Moe), Timme
Paolo, Kuminga, Penda
Franz, Kuminga, TdS
Suggs, AB, TdS
Bane, Jase, Exum
*the key to this is Kuminga's immense physical gifts being harnessed for good. We'd basically have 6 quality starters, including Kuminga in terms of minutes per game. Maybe this is where Mose's rep as THE player's coach factors...he can reach Kuminga and help him realize he could very realistically be 6moy if he plays winning basketball off the bench. He could basically promise him 25mpg at multiple spots. I believe the makeup of this team suggests there will likely be staggered lineups and there will always be at least one or two starters on the floor. Kuminga brings a vertical athletic element we lack on both ends...Imagine AB and Kuminga pressing and trapping, running the floor, and AB throwing lobs all night. IF Kuminga sees the market doesn't necessarily hold the $30m starring role he seems to think he deserves and commits to rebuilding his "brand" with winning, consistently intense, versatile play on both ends, he could be an amazingly impactful player - think (ironically) Golden State Wiggins vs MIN Wiggins...or Igoudala (also GSW era, not PHI 'star" era). We settle in to a much more balanced, reasonably priced C rotation and hope that Gafford, Timme, maybe some Penda? can hold it down while Moe gets ready for his return...which will further bolster the second unit.

Dwight would instantly be one of our most productive centers right now, I just don't think he can play 25 minutes a game! But for $1 million dollars a year, he's a bargain!

Re: Official 2025-2026 Magic Trade ideas thread
I think Tyus is pretty firmly going to only cost $5-6M on a short deal (aka they move on when Jase is ready) whereas Sexton was $19M and would have wanted *at least* that much moving forward.
And Sexton would have cost Isaac/Jett just to match the salary.

I love Richardson! Excellent pick! But this is where the expectations get really out of wack for these young players. Even as a backup guard you can’t expect a 19 year old to be ready for a playoff run. There just not prepared to play that many games and the speed of the game. You get Tyus and bring Richardson on slowly.
Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.
