I am truly in disbelief at this. They gave US a pick for taking the better player in the trade. Yes, I know they’re both expiring and Sexton was going to take the ball away from their young guards.

But still, they clearly could’ve just cut him or waited to the deadline to do this. It makes zero sense for them

Don't forget Jeff did them a solid passing on Ace Bailey instead of trying to extort pick 21 to move down to 5. Wizards were bidding on Ace and Ainge knew it.

Like that about him. He's got some dog in him.

What are the chances still keep mann and run sexton/mann backcourt off the bench?

also, his last name is a perfect attention to our collection... ball, tiddy, nipple, kalk, sexton

mle Has to be going to a veteran center target now. Unless the front office loves moose even more than I do.

Ainge has hardcore tanked for 3 years for Taylor Hendricks, Cody Williams, and Ace Bailey... I think he has zero interest in being out-tanked by anybody next couple years.

All I can think is maybe he or his reps (Klutch) REALLY wanted out of Utah bad and pushed the issue? The Jazz cleared the deck to play all their young guards who all basically suck except for Walter Clayton Jr who they just drafted. They won't have to play tank games sitting their veterans because they are going to lose a ton playing their kids.

From a roster standpoint point I don’t understand. At all.

nsj, really screwed. We really need to find a home for him to open up a roster spot. Cause I'd still like to bring in another point guard (or mann) and primary target in free agency has to be a veteran center.

I’m beginning to think this was maybe pre-negotiated around draft time. Jeff calls Danny and says look, I have a deal with Washington for the #4 pick, what can you do to make me stay at 4?

He's the new Terry Rozier alongside LaMelo except that he's better at getting to the rim, doesn't chuck a ton of threes, and doesn't pound the ball.

LaMelo & Miles won 43 games with Rozier. Hayward was also on that team, but Plumlee was the center.

I will take Miller over Hayward.

Plumlee is not a high bar to clear for the follow-up move to this.

I like Empire's idea to target Day'Ron Sharpe.

But for now, welcome Collin Sexton!

Only 26!

I don't think ainge Ever does anyone any favors like that. I think he caught wind that we had a deal in place with Washington to move back to 6 with them selecting a cefour. And I think Danny called Jeff and said if you take ace 4 for Washington we are taking kon at 5. And that was the end of that trade with Washington.

Right.

If Jeff dumped Nurkic at 4, that would've compromised their later draft position for the teams selecting ahead of 29, 33, 34.

But with a stroke of luck McNeeley fell to 29 in the Mark Williams trade, and Kalkbrenner fell to the 2nd round.

I'm curious if Sexton continues to play the way that he has for most of his career, pretty well rounded scorer who scores in the paint more than a lot of other guards and picks his spots on the arc.... or if he falls victim to the Lee disease and launches 8 threes a game.

Either way, happy to have a legit shot creator here. especially one that's been pretty efficient for a lot of his career. He is kind of a sucky defender and playmaker, so he isn't elevating anyone, but the shot creation by itself is quite important.

I do love that Jeff isn't afraid to get **** done quickly and under the radar.
mitch Would still be sitting on his hands. Or probably on vacation this week after a busy week at the draft. he probably needed some time to rest. For better or worse Jeff isn't afraid to make moves.

My only thought was this part of the deal for us passing on Ace Bailey?

They promised us Sexton for Nurkic if we didn't select Ace.

Otherwise this makes absolutely no sense for Utah lol
