Zach Lowe started his FA pod off with Giannis and Bucks talk. He said "i would bet that the Bucks sign Kpj to a long term deal byt not for a lot of money annually."

This might be one hell of an offseason

I think that would be a home run. He’s going to blow up in a good way for us next year

I would like KPJ to move in with Giannis full time so we can keep an eye on him full time

Was kind of hoping for a short deal for KPJ with the goal of building his value for a trade in the gap year. I get taking the long term risk if the money is right though.

I can see it. Giannis's kids call him uncle Kevin.

BAE deals are limited to 2 years, so I think that works.

Pretending that Zach is right, what would constitute "not a lot of money?" In the new financial landscape, i see that as anything less than 10 per year. But anything over the BAE of around 5 cuts into the mle. Hmmmmm

Gotta think the length is no more than 2 with an option which is favorable to both parties for opposite reasons. Kpj wants the opportunity to cash in if he pops, bucks want the opportunity to cut ties if he fizzles.

Absolutely. Was Obi Toppin an all star when Indy grabbed him? How about Nesmith?

Obi Toppin is not a good defender. And while Nesmith is a much better defender, he can't do all the things you mentioned. But we can agree, the Bucks could use a guy like Nesmith. I think a healthy Rollins could fit that role.

As an aside, mentioning the Pacer's players in the context of defense implies the Pacers had a good defense. They didn't have a good defense in the regular season and were 8th during the playoffs.

I will take Toppins nondefense over Bobbys any day. Nesmith can do everything I listed just maybe not at the all star level that you seem to think that I implied. Nesmith is bigger than Rollins but I really hope that Rollins can stop dribble penetration when his dhoulder is healthy.
The Pacers defense is better and more switchable than ours. We aren’t sniffing Thunder level defense in one offseason.

We can agree to disagree on Toppin vs. BP.

The reason the Bucks aren't as switchable as they could be is primarily due to one factor-Brook Lopez.

Without using exceptions we can do what for KPJ?

3 million/year x 4 years? Maybe 8% raises annually? That would be 13.5 million over 4 years. He's already made 26 million in his career. Who knows how much of that has been pissed away, but I'd consider that contract HIGHLY unlikely.

And Bobby, and Dame. Prince and Trent were asked to do more than they were capable of as well. The heart of our defensive issue though is stopping dribble penetration, we had to help every time which led to wide open shots or cuts on slow footed rotations. Thats our second worst issue as the oldest team in the league.

It would be reassuring if we leaked an agreement with a guy or two. Although I’m sure we are deathly afraid the league will throw the gauntlet at us if we were to do that.

Guessing KPJ and Trent Split the MLE and both are back on 3/21 deals. Bobby gets 4/80 extension

I just think with Naz getting an average of 25, DFS declining his 15m option, and NAW almost certainly getting more than the MLE, i dont think Trent accepts less than 10-12. Beas situation has opened up another spot to fill so thats one more team in need of sg.

I dont think trent turns down 14 to play with us for 7.

It'll be the BAE at most for KPJ. 2 years/$10.6 million. Possibly a player option.

Reason to believe KPJ hasn’t scratched the surface of his top?

Hard to say, but even if thats true it will depend on his priorities and work ethic. Who really knows when it comes to that
